friendly & fanva are correct for the most part. Spending is necessary, but so is coaching, talent assessment, and development. So, it's a cauldron of things blended to gather that makes a winning combo. And, as they say, you can't make chicken salad out of chickenshit. Spending money, and doing it wisely, is paramount.

Ole Miss has buy-in from everyday fans monetarily, a very well run collective and several very wealthy plaintiff attorney spend thrift type personalities that are all in…

They can match or exceed almost every school in the country financially.

They’ve created a strong collective since Lane arrived, and as much as it pains to say they’ve become a much more consistent winner than LSU since 2019. Kids don’t care about what happened in 2015

They care less about it yes. Yes, they would be correct. But to say history has no affect is not exactly right. LSU in the 2000s still has a say in how the overall program is perceived nationally.

"Why did Ole Miss do well in the portal?"

I think Dabo knows the answer to this one!

And your point is? Ole Miss was still a few plays away from playing in a NC game. My point is anyone can get there right now if you have the right combination. Could not do this in the past because everyone wasn't spending and you didn't have a more level playing field in NCAA. You also had a BCS system that favored the powerhouse programs. All you saw was teams that would dominate and were the clear best teams. Nobody is going to admit it but this new era ball of NIL has made NCAA far more competitive and entertaining.

I personally love how the chaos has made every "expert" pundit look even dumber than before because they can't predict anything now.

- They were in the hunt for the national championship this year and have had a fairly successful program in recent years.

- they have the law school and the medical school and have a fair amount of money floating around the program. Their endowment is more than that of LSU.

There's talent, and there's what you do with it. See Brian Kelly.

This and a whole lot of insecurity. You have to know OM fans to know what I’m talking about. They go into massive debt trying to have the image of wealth. They are people who desperately need to feel better than others.

Much like was saw last year with Kelly, killing it in the portal doesn't mean much if the coaching isn't there.

Ole Miss fans are acting very confident, but the next season is not a continuation of the last. Injuries happen. The ball doesn't bounce you way. And they lose their entire offensive staff and head coach, something they seem to really downplay due to denial.

Short answer is money long answer is pete golding has a 2 year window until the kiffin bandaid sting goes away from donors. If golding is not in a big bowl his 1st 2 seasons the cash flow will dry up and they will return to the ole miss we all know

This…it’ll take a couple years. Golding best hope his new offensive staff kick arse and can evaluate talent because his defense isn’t that great. People forget Saban ran his arse off for shitty defense. If Chambliss is eligible I give Golding 3 years tops before the decline starts. Ole Miss fans rave about his 2 playoff wins yet he’s only being paid like 7 million. Doesn’t sound like he’s thought of as highly as we’re led to believe.
