The consensus opinion is Berry and Lindsey are better. You can’t really take 3 in a class.

Scholarships are increasing, and depending on what they do with Ju’Juan your RB depth chart looks like this next year

Jackson
Durham

100% could take three

We were replenishing a completely empty backfield that year. Wasn’t Eric Martin in that class? He started as a RB.

Williams is gone after this season and so is Emery. It is entirely possible Holley never plays another game for LSU. That means, at the moment, LSU is only returning Durham and Jackson.

Assuming Johnson sticks at RB that would be 3 returning plus 2 incoming. I would think if they were looking for more depth they would try to find it in the portal as opposed to adding another freshman.

Lester, this kid obviously has the IQ by the visits he has been taking. What’s your thoughts where he lands?

I would say Duke unless he starts to get some offers that would make him re-think that. Which i assume he will start to get re-recruited.

Nope. In 1982 LSU signed Dalton Hilliard, Garry James and Karl Bernard as RBs with Craig Rathjen as FB.

Fenerty signed in 1981 with Herman Fontenot and Eric Martin as RBs.

Sammy Martin signed in 1984.

Terry Robiskie in 1976 was the first Tiger to rush for over a 1000 yds. in a season with 1177.

Besides Robiskie, Charles Alexander did it twice in 1977 and 1978, Dalton Hilliard in 1984 and 1985, Harvey Williams in 1987, Kevin Faulk in 1996, 1997 and 1998, (Toefield just missed in 2001, 992 yds.), and Justin Vincent in 2003 all had over 1000 yards rushing in a season prior to Hester.

The issue is he’s not a big back but he’s quick and elusive and has very good vision. But you already have 2 other RBs committed that also fit that mold. Personally I think Sheppard is an SEC talent but it’s just a loaded year in state for LSU.

Not remotely related. But I hope his dad is proud wherever his son decides to play. Seems like an intelligent and extremely gifted athlete.

What a dumb post and tired joke.

Sheppard is a tremendous player, man amongst boys at the 5A level. Duke is getting a good one.

While there is extra room for sure, which I dont understand why the NCAA went this route...it's going to be interesting to see how schools handle this.

The fact is having 85 was already too many because so many players DONT play and just transfer as a result. If teams are going to load up on true scholarship players to get to 105, that issue just gets way worse. If you mostly hand this out to walk on types who are just happy to be there, it wont be much an issue.

In the end, I have no idea how you keep a RB room with 7-8 scholarship guys in it happy. You cant. We will play 3-4 guys across the whole season with any significance which means 3-5 guys will feel like they arent getting their run. Now a freshman you can sell that redshirt to maybe, but beyond that it becomes an issue of too many good bodies in the room.
