re: Was Glen Dorsey the last 5-star DT that lived up to the recruiting hype at LSU?

Might be my favorite LSU player of all time. Kid had knee braces growing up. Gave him a complex. After he put you on your arse he got up stomping. Imaging feeling the ground shake as you collected yourself. Must have been terrifying. You can see the anger in his eyes. Mama I’m walking……

Not sure about star rating, but I remember Marcus Spears was a huge recruit in 2001. I remember thinking things have changed for LSU when they got him.
I think they were all 4 stars, but Michael Clayton, Ben Wilkerson, Marcus Spears and Joseph Addai were huge recruits for 2001. That was the class and those were the guys everyone was super excited about.
That class also had Marquise Hill, Andrew Whitworth, Shyrone Carey and Rudy Niswanger. Great base that formed the backbone of LSU for years to come.

I thought Michael Brockers was a beast on that 2011 defense.
Such an athletic DL - Oregon wasn’t sure what hit them in the opener.
ETA: See now he was mentioned positively.

One of the first high drama flips I can recall. Michigan thought they were getting him.
RIP

Drake Nevis was pretty solid. Maybe not Dorsey good but Dorsey also won everything.

Hard to accomplish when we have had a new DL coach every year for the last 7 or 8 years and will have another new coach next year if rumors on Williams are true. We need a coach that will be here for a few years to recruit and develop their guys.

Masson Smith was good???
He was a big part of the worst D Line in LSU history
We've had a new defensive line coach the last 6 seasons I believe. He was set up to fail. We need some continuity for once.

Maason Smith says hello to the celebration injury meme bc he tackled someone.
