Alleva doing work
I love that Joe is going to do his best to make this hire work. I wouldn't be surprised to see LSU athletics put a greater emphasis on basketball marketing and resource planning over the next few years.

Nothing new, was looking for an update and found this post confirming what we already knew.

UNT changed its stance about releasing Hill College center John Odoh to LSU today.
UNT officials were previously on record as saying they would not release Odoh to the school that hired away Johnny Jones and his staff.
Benford said it came down to talking to his players, who said they didn't want a player on the roster who did not want to be there.
"I have no issue with releasing him to LSU," Benford said. "Johnny, [LSU assistant coach Shawn Forrest] and those guys recruited him. He feels comfortable with them."

The right decision has been made. Glad the players stood up for one of their own, but it really shouldn't have come down to that.
Happy that Odoh will get the chance to play for the coaching team who recruited him.

Rick Villareal was a tool as football administrator for Curly Hallman's staff during the lowest 5 years period in the history of the LSU program and the same goes now as N Texas State AD..

Obviously someone is lying. Villareal says it's up the coach, but Benford claims he doesn't care. So who was initially blocking it?

I'm not sure but villareal was pretty pissed, sounded awfully defensive for someone who had no control. Regardless it's over now

I was just wondering if Odoh did commit to LSU would he have to sit out a year?

No. He's a JUCO player that was released by UNT.

The problem with Odoh and UNT is that he completely refused to talk to the school once Jones left. Refused to talk to the new coach or to even send in his request to get out of his commitment until it was established that UNT moved on.
Don't really care, but for a kid to make that type of move is going to anger pretty much everyone at the school he already committed to. That was the problem with Odoh and UNT. It had less to do with JJ and LSU and much more to do with Odoh and those who are currently "advising" him.

Getting a huge paycheck every few years from playing us in foosball is smarter than blocking a kid from LSU and never seeing another dime in the near future.
