sammich, what decision did les have to make that was so hard?
why did he pull DBs scholarship?

if benton wanted to be at auburn, or LSU didn't want benton why did they both tell each other on Tuesday they wanted to be together?
Probably for the same reason when you ask a partner who is unfaithful if they love you they say "Very Much So." It's the sure thing, the comfy slipper you just don't throw away unless and until the bigger better deal presents itself. For LSU that was Randal, and for Benton that very well might have been Auburn for all we know, and for two other solid verbal commits it was Alabama and Tennessee. Recruiting is a tough business, but I think we can see after today as LSU got shafted twice that what goes around comes around, and for me, I don't like being on the losing end of the whole circus. Who does? We can wrap ourselves in whatever we like to but the fact is, as I said before, LSU is the only one that is looking out for LSU's best interests, and if we don't make sure we pay close attention to our best interests we are going to get screwed and no kiss given in return. That's just life in the fast lane. I don't make the rules, but that's just the way the world works, and you know that.

well you can chose not to believe quites from players that are never recounted or rebuffed by LSU, OR you can chose to believe the most likely scenerio
whatever you like
i, personally, am not into crazy off the wall conspiracy theories
i prefer to take what evidence is available and reach the most likely scenerio
being that it was reported on tuesday that the conversation happened and that has never been tested by LSU, Miles, Bradhsaw or Benton...i feel safe believeing it
if something happens to change that, i will chnage my tune. i am not saying it is fact. and certainly there is chance for lies in there, but it seems most likely and isn't being called out as a lie by anyone involved

honestly, i wouldnt want him on the team. you are out recruiting solid young men in RS, CL, RR, and several more
this rotten apple, DB, could have spoiled our bunch.
i know les still recruited him, and therefore that is not the substance of the argumant, but I am glad to see his offer pulled

That is such a moronic thing to say....I don't even know where to start.

To LSUfan4444- What would you have done in that instance when you hear that your #1 recruit is having second thoughts about coming to play for you? Coach Miles made a hard decision, because UP UNTIL THEN, LSU was counting on signing both of them and now he was faced with a choice of only one.
I totally agree with this. I am not happy such a choice had to be made, but facing that choice, Les made the only logical business minded choice.

Put yourself in DB's shoes...Do not give this Bull shite excuse about his grades...CLM stuck with him for 2 years until the DAY before signing day..knowing the problems of his grades...B/C one of DB's HS teammate was as you said about KB "Scared of competition"...and had to star from the beginning....That is when he cut him...Not b/c of his GRADES...Bull shite excuse..
Exactly, and this raises the point that really bothers me about this whole situation and I haven't seen addressed. How does this issue come up on the night before NSD? And why isn't anyone questioning how RR and/or his Dad can make such a "him or me" stand (if that is what happened) on the eve of NSD. RR knew that LSU also had a commitment from DB for the last two years, so why not tell the coaches before?
Given the visit to Auburn by DB, perhaps there is more to this story than we know about....

Scenario? No thanks. I'll take the facts.
The only factual info you have is Benton took an visit to Auburn weeks ago & then signed with Auburn.

I completely agree. DB's signing with LSU was not news. Why hasn't this been discussed at all?

so, if someones car gets hit by a drunk driver, and the driver admits to being drunk, BUT it is never proven by BAC, then you don't believe he was drunk because it was never proven to be fact?
what else do you need other than benton saying it happened and nobody saying it didn't to believe it happened/is fact?

this needs to be anchored. Trying to discuss something with some of the posters in this thread is about as practical as taking a chair out to the mailbox and talking to it about something.

So what are we to learn from people's word
High schoolers are unsure and waver in their decisions and college coaches "make hard, fast decisions".

LSU better look out for LSU, because that's the only one looking out for LSU and LSU's best interests.
Awesome.

I'd like to hear what the coaches actually said, not a Benton paysite qoute.

all we have now is what banton said, and that hasn't ben refuted by miles even when directly asked about benton
as of right now (and this can change and if it does i'll happily change my tune), it looks to be reliable info
and fwiw- his quotes about committing to LSU were given to gannet louisiana news

Poor Benton screwed himself when he made the mistake of talking trash and bragging that Miles told him we had penciled him in at #2 WR behind Lafell when obviously we hadn't.
If he had't said this and convinced RR's Dad that LSU was playing RR, Benton and Randle would both be at LSU right now.
Benton was just trying to do a little harmless bragging/exagerating and it bit him in the butt.

How dare any clueless ranter question Mile's his honesty--very clueless!

really?
he got an offer from auburn where he'll probably recieve more PT
in all likelyhood he wasn't a 3 or 4 year guy anyway, and just waiting time till his draft stock is right
i think he'll be okay

So all you are posting about is one version or Scenario. Luther Davis told people lots of things too.
