Many thanks to the number one player in the country according to rivals who quietly committed to LSU in the summer and enrolled in December with little fanfare.

With your stature as a player, you could have been the center of attention for the last six months keeping your name at the top of every recruiting football message board.

You made a great choice to attend a school that puts top players like you in the NFL by the dozens. Your quiet and humble approach to the recruiting process has not gone unnoticed.

This is not to throw shade on those who like the spotlight, to each his own. You should just know your approach is not taken for granted.

Can’t wait to see you starting in the purple and gold come December.

Then allow me: frick players who “like the spotlight”. Recruiting is unbearable to follow now because of this. It used to be a daily thing for me and now it’s weekly/monthly because of how much some players “like the spotlight”. And I bet Derek Stingley Jr goes way further in life after football with his level headed maturity than any of these no character attention whores.

He could end up being one of the most popular LSU players ever if he lives up to his ceiling of being an all time great at DBU, then go on to be a superstar in the NFL and make a ton of money, then live a genuinely good, happy, successful life afterward if his attitude and approach to life stays where it is right now. I’m very excited to see how good he is when he gets in the program

I understand your sentiment.

That said, if I judged an 18 year old kid over something trivial like this I'd be a total hypocrite.

I was never a big "spotlight" guy, but I was quite the assclown when I was their age. I really have no room to criticize a kid that age unless they committed a violent crime or stole something.

When you truly know yourself and do not need constant validation you can do this. This young man is all about being the best he can be.

I disagree with this.

There was plenty of fanfare, it just came from unusual corners (no pun intended)... like Aranda.

Indeed. If he actually suits up for us, then I’ll be impressed.

Anyhow, big ups to DSJ. Dude, is all class and all business.

He put that video up and people went ape shite nuts for days.

But he never swayed, for sure. I hope Elias Ricks recruitment goes the same way.

It's just funny how many adults judge so easy these kids and forget how retarded they were. Even though they're so put together now? Lol

He simply did what most kids should do. A kid raised right, as opposed to these others whose parents are more interested in themselves rather than their children.

Like the Ball family (can't even remember the dad's name) parents are trying to use their kids, rather than trying to help them. The Stingley family never did that. They actually seem concerned about their son. Refreshing.

All of this is opinionated. There are varying approaches to parenting and most parents want what's best for their kids. Not all approaches will be liked by others.
