The year he took a big late hit from a UCF player who was trying to deliberately injure him only to get up, get pissed, and proceed to dominate college football from that point on? That first season?

We have to get better at screen passes to take pressure off the OL. As good as our OL was with elite tackles we were bad at screens—admitted by Kelly earlier this year. That’s one thing that made our offense in 2019 so electric.

Yeah genius. The season he was AVERAGE. If Nussmeier has the right tools he can be great. Did you not see the Oklahoma game? Took an injury then proceeded to play his a** off, gave it all he had. Nuss no doubt made some mistakes in his year 1 starting. Don't act like any of us thought Burrow was gonna be elite in 2019 lol... come on

So we get a few guys in the portal and now our offense will rival not only the best offense in LSU history, but perhaps the best in NCAA history?

Yeah the entire year that that part of a game occured in

2018 JB 57% 2894 yds 16/5

2024 Nuss 64% 3739 yds 26/11

Nuss won't make a jump like Joe did, but it's only fair to compare their first year starting stats.

Lol, Nuss is no where close to Burrow level. Joe was on another level.

False

Let’s compare apples to apples by comparing the first year as a starter for Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, and Garrett Nussmeier.

Nuss’s numbers for his 2024 campaign are almost all better than Joe Burrow was in 2018 and Jayden Daniels was in 2022.

That’s why I’m really excited about 2025. Nuss will actually have weapons now and 1 year of experience as a starter. He really seemed to come on strong the last few games of the year like Burrow did in 2018. I think 2024 could be a Heisman Tropht type of year for Nuss.

When you typed that thread title and you got to the part that says 2019. When you typed that out, at what point did you think you should hit the submit button?

A lot of us saw greatness in him that first year. Maybe not GOAT but Heisman invite and 1st round pick. The posts are still there if you'd care to dig.

Correct. But the kind of player Burrow became was a generational player.

I’m not knocking Nuss. I think Nuss is a good QB. I just don’t expect him to be one Burrow or JD5 status. Three QBs in a row like that would be absolutely unprecedented. JD5 and Burrow were arguably the greatest college football QBs of all time. Odds of LSU ever having another one like that in our lifetime is damn near zero.

Pump the brakes there bud. Your talking about the greatest team of all time compared to QB that is scared to run to extend plays and guys that hasn't played a down in tiger stadium. Just whoa.

Burrow's coming out game was that heist by the officials in College Station. Burrow was nails in that game and you could see it in him. This year I haven't seen it in Nuss, maybe in the bowl game?

Can someone please remove these post? I stay away from TRant and only check the recruiting board specifically to avoid this kind of stupidity. Nothing in this post is recruiting news

Joe Sloan is no Joe Brady.

The play calling was a huge reason we were so successful in 2019.
