This Offense Could Rival 2019

Nic Anderson is a massive get for this team. What I believe hampered the 2024 offense, specifically in the Red Zone, was the lack of a true WR 1, or even a 1A and 1B like the days of Chase and Jefferson, or Malik and Thomas.
The haul of WRs in general that is coming in from the transfer portal is nothing short of excellent. We heard regularly over the course of this season that LSU just didn't have a deep threat to take the top off of a defense without Hilton on the field. Then Hilton struggled to get his footing during in-game opportunities (except against OU).
Now, we not only bring in a guy who immediately takes over WR1 duties, but also some blazers that will put opposing defenses on their heals with speed alone.
Hilton, Aaron Anderson, Brown, Hill, and Nic Anderson. Any combination of these 5 puts immediate pressure on a defense and forces them into no-win situations. Add Green with N Anderson in the Red Zone and I have no idea how you even defend it.
And we haven't even talked about RB with Durham and Berry yet!
The skill position players on this team, on paper, are Natty level good. It all comes down to keeping Nuss upright.
If we can get 1 or 2 solid IOL out of the portal, it could end up being a thing of beauty to watch this offense play.

Legit question, how much of Brown, Hill, and Anderson have you watched to be able to compare any of them to Jefferson, Chase, or Marshall? And have you factored in how important the 2019 offensive line was to that offense?

Lol, Nuss is no where close to Burrow level. Joe was on another level.

No doubt the offense could be good but rival 2019? That offense was generational.

OL - let's hope the S&C program picks it up a little with our bodies in the trenches. Even USC pushed around our big talk All American OT.

I salute you...not only do you bleed purple and gold, you are looking through purple/gold glasses. Sheesh. That was a generational offense man. We may never see anything like that again.

I wouldn't say "no where close", Nuss is a very talented passer. But, Joe could scramble and run effectively when needed. It wasn't his first instinct but he could run. Nuss needs to develop that ability or he's stuck in the pocket. Now that we have a SEC seasoned backup transferring in, maybe he can afford to get out of the pocket and run more. Addressing the run block with an O-line that can do that would do wonders to balance things out for Nuss. Burrow had that and we didn't this year.

Dude, the only offense that is going to probably come close to rivaling 2019 is going to be last year‘s O with JD5. Put down that pipe man.

I wouldn't go out that far on the limb but I wouldn't have in '19 either. I expected Burrow & Co to be good but I wasn't expecting GOAT.

Here we go.
Haven’t even thrown many passes to these guys and we are the best offense ever. Some of you are so laughable!!

2019 had a perfect scheme with elite skill players that had played together the previous season. Chase and Jefferson are 2 of the Top WRs in the NFL.
Our 3rd WR Marshall was the #1 HS WR. CEH was one of the best RBs in CFB for yac and was a very skilled receiver. lastly, Burrow was as good as any CFB QB in pre-snap reads. Analysts said many NFL QBs couldn't read a D as well as Burrow.
The current offense has a lot of unknowns. Replacing most of the OL. WRs and TE that haven't been on the team before. An OC that's still learning. A QB that we don't know if he will make that year 2 jump and hasn't had the opportunity to develop timing with his receivers. I think they will be very good, but there will be a learning curve.

2019 will never happen again. Let’s just win 10 games and make playoffs!

Who the frick downvoted this? I like Nuss and he’s a pretty good QB, but he definitely ain’t no Joe Burrow. Joe had a far bigger ego and killer mentality. Not once has Nuss run the ball like Burrow would. FFS, Burrow once caught his own pass and gained yardage! He’s like the Chuck Norris of QBs.

You people really forget Burrow's first year as a starter.

Too much dip on your chip bud. One, none of these WR are better than Terrace Marshall.
Let alone any of these guys being better than Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Clyde, Moss.
