was talking about kicker ranking services like Kohls or Chris Sailor, no idea how they rank QBs.

I’m sure the opinion of a scout at 247 that Howard is no longer a top 35 prospect of the 2022 class has very little to do with his future success in life.

Understood

It's hard to speak in threads like this without posters claiming an agenda for/against players. I'm not against Manning. I don't see the ranking justified. They play mostly low level talented teams and he doesn't dominate in a way a #1 usually does.

9-23 @ Many
9-30 Pearl River
10-7 @ Belle Chasse
10-14
10-21 Country Day*
10-28 MLK Charter*
11-4 St Charles Catholic*

Any QB ranked at least as a 4 star, in a passing/up tempo offense (which Newman runs) would throw for 4,000+, 40 TDs, less than 10 picks, at a 65%+ rate. He will, once again, reach none of those marks.

The 247 howard ranking drop was odd. It was almost like they wanted to drop him and used every viable excuse they could. Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist (blah blah they hate LSU), but it was odd.

They said he was too short (previous class #1 quarterback was shorter than Howard), said he was injured (this shouldn't effect anything), tried saying he was a duel threat and not good enough as a duel threat to justify being a 5 star (he is a pocket passer who can run, not a duel threat quarterback) and said "oh he never fell, other guys just moved in front of him."

He was a superstar every time he stepped on a field, whether it be at college camps, nike camps, Elite 11, or on the actual field.

I mean the kid almost led his (very mediocre) team to a state championship with a literal broken leg

again, im telling you that shannon terry...the creator of 247 and On3 said to me the rankings were an NFL draft pick slot projection with 3-4 years of development and not based on where they are now with play/film/measurables/etc. Which makes them soooo meaningless

Once you are committed, and offered a scholarship, to a university like LSU you’re done with recruiting services like 247…thanks for the 5 stars, it worked.

I’m sure Howard wouldn’t trade places with the #1 247 QB for anything, he’s in P&G.

Unfortunately for my son, LSU doesn’t offer scholarships to kickers in every class…he’ll need to be the top kid AND get lucky.

????? This is dumb

First off no one gives a shite what he does in high school except for high school fans. Second, tying stars to stats is dumb. You need a lot more context, such as Arch’s strength of schedule, the quality of his receivers

This also seems like an odd justification for rating Arch so highly.

The kid has gotten the very best coaching imaginable. Who is going to sharpen skills and learn new things in the next 4 years: a hypothetical QB whose dad works in construction and played a couple of years of high school ball or Arch Manning?

Using basketball as an example, Pascal Siakam is a diamond in the rough who justifies being ranked higher than his high school skills and stats, not Bronny James.

WTF?
I challenge you right now.....name 1 5* rated qb AS A JUNIOR, and preseason ranked #1 recruit, that has had equal or worse stats than Mannings last year. Does that exist? I truly don't know.
Second, his strength of schedule sucks overall, which should balance out non-D1 receivers.(At a minimum)

BTW, before you answer, you might want his stats from his playoff loss to a stronger LCA team...

finished 6-of-17 for 49 passing yards, 15 rushing yards and a touchdown.

No one will give a shite when he wins Super Bowls like his uncles

Y’all think Arch’s recruitment is taking coverage away from other players?

I'd be over the top excited if Arch surprised everyone and signed with Brian Kelly's
LSU Tigers!!
Anyone thinking he will be a bust is a joke. This dude will be a great college QB and I'd bet he'll be a great NFL QB too!
I bleed Purple and Gold and understand the pessimism in his recruitment, but don't believe for one second that the vast majority of LSU fans wouldn't welcome Arch with open arms!

In a vacuum, yes. But his stats are bad. They do not warrant his ranking.

He plays a shite schedule with stud receivers

We’re on a COLLEGE recruiting board. Whichever team gets Arch won’t give a shite how Newman did or what his stats were.

well they aren’t John Curtis… but that schedule will go from shite to tough in 22.

A lot of the value in Arch will be in his mentality and how he handles situations, as he has had unlimited opportunity to pick the brains of five Super Bowl rings if you count Brees, whom he undoubtedly knows and idolizes. That’s the value in his pedigree, which makes him more valuable at higher levels than he is in high school.

No, we are saying, as far as Manning, his onnfield performance does not in any way justify his ranking...and its not close

See, none of this has anything to do with his actual ability. This is ranking a kid purely based off of his last name. It's lazy.

If that’s pedestrian then I’d hate to see what a bad game looks like.

I was being nice. He was under pressure all night and LCA had pretty good coverage downfield as well, so I don't know how to rate him based on the single game I saw him play.

LCA had a great defense, no doubt. I saw them vs Acadiana. Acadiana passed for more yards on one play, the long pass to almost tie it, than Manning had all night against LCA. Might have been the only pass Acadiana threw all night.
