Hopefully Brian Kelly can get the federal government pass some regulation. We need a salary cap like the NFL has

Nothing can be done with it. It’s why the NCAA never wanted to open this can of worms.

If the proposal is a cap for all sports except baseball, then I’ll think about it.

We will be fine. I rather LSU throw money at a player like LB Omar and DL Jefferson that has college experience in the portal and proven. Spending wildly on a player that hasn't played 1 down in college is straight casino gambling.

Don't get into a bidding war for a recruit. Either they want to be here or they can chase the bread somewhere else. I'm fine with LSU making a offer and sticking with it.

It would be a lot better now if they had. They would have put some rules and restrictions in place. The Supreme Court decision basically made that impossible and it only happened because they refused to see the writing on the wall and do something themselves.

100%! This is new and there were no precedents for above board payments to recruits. Everyone is overvalued right now, but the market will correct itself in time. You can't limit an adult's ability to profit off of their likeness, so I don't expect to see anything "game changing" coming from congress or the courts.

That’s not what’s happening though. These collectives are just throwing out bags that have nothing to do with player deals with companies or using their name or likeness.

So because they can't figure out regulation, the kids shouldn't get compensated for the billions they make communist universities? "Regulation" is what got our country into the mess it's currently in. Everything is regulated to keep all the money in the same places. Hence the hard sell on communism going on currently. Our proud universities are a major component in that cog. Anything that cause them strife is OK in my book(though I doubt they are losing any sleep). I'd rather the kids have money than an indoctrinating "education". The money is useful to all eventually. The "education" is just harmful.

As long as we are consistently top 5-10 in recruiting, we don’t need any government intervention. If we start falling below that; somebody please call Joe Biden about the salary cap.

For a site that has a ton of posters always touting conservatism on taxes, economics, free markets, seems like many of those same folks are calling for socialism.

So hell lets go full socialist for football

1) All coaches paid the same
2) All Stadiums have to be the same size, so maybe LSU has to cut back to say 50k for that to happen
3) All schools must have the exact same facilities

Mckinley is just being a rationale economic actor that is using his football talent to get the best deal. Many people do the same thing for jobs. They will uproot from LA and take a job away from family and friends to say go to Denver, California, Atlanta for extra $$$, for example. Other people say, I will find a job that I can
live off close to home to stay closer to family, friends and cultural roots.

In an NIL world, McKinley is using the free market, weighing his economic opportunities and went to A&M.

I mean do we really know what deal he got at a&m and if it was really that much better than what LSU was offering? Or is that what people are just telling themselves to make them feel better about the fact he may have just wanted to go there more. I'm personally past worrying about the reasoning someone would actually choose to go to school with those weirdos.

What will it cost to get an Underwood or McIntyre? Someone is going $1m plus. It won't be us. LSU won in 2019 because of Burrow. Auburn because of Newton. FSU because of Winston. Etc, etc... There's a reason great QBs are so coveted.
