None of us are paying for it and there aren’t many other players out there for big money. If some billionaires want to have lsu football as a hobby why do we care?

If say you have $1,000,000,000 and you give a football player 0.5% that’s $5,000,000. So what? Do you think that changes a billionaires life. No.

So let’s say you have $500,000 and give away $2500. Does that change your life? No

Do you want to win a NC at LSU? Is it worth $2500?

If you have $500,000 is $2500 chump change? I’d say sure, yes it is to feel part of the team.

Kiffin should've locked up a cheaper tackle before this.

5 mil for a tackle. No way.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Did you miss the part where Governor Landry got personally involved?

That is not the mentality gaining someone $1B in the first place. It never ceased to amaze me watching Mark Cuban on SharkTank haggling with some poor schmuck for $50K and part ownership of a company.

There's a moment of orderly silence before a football play begins. Players are in position, linemen are frozen, and anything is possible.

(Almost Indian-summer weather here in mid-November.)

Then, like a traffic accident, stuff begins to randomly collide. From the snap of the ball to the snap of the first bone is closer to four seconds than five.

(First and 10, Riggins flea-flicker back to Theismann. Theismann's in a lot of trouble.)

[tape rewinds]

One Mississippi. Joe Theismann, the Redskins' quarterback, takes the snap and hands off to his running back.

Two Mississippi. It's a trick play, a flea-flicker, and the running back tosses the ball back to the quarterback.

Three Mississippi. Up to now, the play's been defined by what the quarterback sees. It's about to be defined by what he doesn't.

Four Mississippi. Lawrence Taylor is the best defensive player in the NFL, and has been from the time he stepped onto the field as a rookie.

(And it was Lawrence Taylor who slammed Theismann to the ground at the 42-yard line. The blitz was on.)

He will also change the game of football as we know it.

(And we'll look at it with the reverse angle one more time. And I suggest if your stomach is weak, you just don't watch.)

Legendary quarterback Joe Theismann never played another down of football.

Now, y'all would guess that, more often than not, the highest paid player on an NFL team is a quarterback, and you'd be right. But what you probably don't know is, that more often than not, the second highest paid player is, thanks to Lawrence Taylor, a left tackle. Because, as every housewife knows, the first check you write is for the mortgage, but the second is for the insurance. And the left tackle's job is to protect the quarterback from what he can't see coming. To protect his blind side.

The ideal left tackle is big, but a lot of people are big. He's wide in the butt and massive in the thighs. He has long arms, giant hands and feet as quick as a hiccup. This is a rare and expensive combination the need for which can be traced to that Monday night game and Lawrence Taylor.

Seaton’s reportedly asking $100K *per visit*. Big money on the table.

Aww Hell Naw. If that is true , this uncle is a crook, a swindler. Trying to fleece these schools. I sure hope not.

are you comfortable with the coaches making their money, or the conferences/schools pulling in their share, or the TV networks making their money, or the announcers, etc...

Lots of music artists became millionaires are very young ages...I will never been uncomfortable with college athletes making millions when others in the industry make millions...
It depends on who gets the mule. Some folks don't think Monroe should get a mule.

Well I mean you’re sitting over there scratching your head sounding flabbergasted that a highly touted recruit is trying to get as much money as possible and crying about an ‘auction’

Question: how do you think these top guys decide where they’re gonna go play football?

What process is used to "value" a given player?
Whatever schools are willing to pay. If he doesn’t get offered that much, he will come down on his asking price. It’s a free market rn.
