He can contact them... but if the "supposed" diva comments are even half true, he might be waiting by the phone and it ain't ringing.
Because I have no doubts in my mind that if any school were to violate tampering rules, especially with Gilbert, we'd rat them out in a heartbeat.
ETA: it is possible, while not likely, tampering is what initiated all this anyway (coupled with a weed suspension??) and now no school wants to follow through with the deal.

Didn’t they pass a blanket waiver rule? I doubt they would block this guy. Especially if he says he has personal issues and needs to leave the school.

That’s true. Forgot they don’t count against our 81, so we have spots. But the point still stands that we don’t have the roster shortfall that was expected a couple of months ago. We don’t have to take Gilbert back for that reason.

He shut it down with 2 games left and we won both of those games. If he doesn’t want to be here then he can go. We will be alright!

The SEC hasn’t made a public ruling on allowing inter-conference one-time waivers. If they say no, then he would have to sit a season or leave the SEC. Maybe he and his family are hearing that the SEC is leaning toward saying no.
Also note that Clemson has already told him thanks but no thanks when he reached out to them, so his options to go to a big time program may be very limited. We may end up by far the best option at the end of all this.

Clemson doesn’t take transfers. I don’t believe Dabo has ever taken one.

Clemson has taken a transfer before under dabo.
I know he has a rule he doesn't take transfers but i believe he has taken a couple grad transfers

I think that method in turn makes it dramatic. And would be an automatic no.. and if that’s what you’re trying to accomplish, cutting all communication is more effective.
I get that you’re frustrated at his situation but he’s still a kid and I trust the offensive staff to do what’s best for the team.

Anna Hickey is their 247 mod and she seems to be well connected and pretty legit. For context, she picked us to beat Clemson in the title game last year.
She said in a recent podcast interview that she was surprised that Dabo didn’t give Gilbert any time of day. She said she thought, if he was going to give a transfer a look, that it would be him. Dabo made it clear he isn’t interested.
I didn’t realize he took a hard line on transfers in general, but she was still surprised they didn’t leave the door at least cracked.
