Remember when people were complaining we wouldn't be top 10?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Anyone that thinks lsu can’t recruit a top end class anymore is an imbecile. And we have had a lot of imbeciles on this board recently.

Shea said after this weekend he predicts we end up Top 5….

It’s amazing how consistently wrong about lsu recruiting that people like the poster Oktiger are and the same ones repeat their stupidity year in year out.

It's true, wonder why the people whining about the demise of LSU recruiting would scoff at that idea when LSU wasn't so highly ranked.

Agreed. Their talking point about Daniels was that he had hit his ceiling and wouldn’t develop anymore. How could our coaches possibly improve someone who had started for two years? Therefore, go with Nuss. LOL!!

Ill gladly eat my crow on Daniels, I said he should be on a short leash at the beginning of the year. It wasnt some hot take that a 5th year starter had possibly hit his ceiling. What he is doing this year is almost unheard of at any level of football, as I cant recall any player that had started that many games improve as much as he has.

We will sign 35. Things will move our way after Jimbo is fired, we beat bama and A&M and Jayden wins the Heisman.
We will get Bussey and the A&M trio, D. McKinley and possibly a transfer from J. Mathews, M. Jackson, Nolen or Evans. Jimbo can't last more than a couple of weeks.

He said even at 7-5 he thinks he gets one more shot

I doubt Jimbo is getting fired. His buyout is 76 million

Hard to imagine they don't let him come back with their goat class and Weigman back healthy. Not a good look to start all over the year Texas and Oklahoma enter the SEC.

Kenny Pickett. What you said is just not true. College sports in general is filled with people who are college vets then become great that final year. Happens in college basketball constantly.
Hendon Hooker his final 2 years.
Burrow had a full year as starter at LSU and wasn’t any kind of draft prospect going into his final season.

Did any of those start 4 years prior to that jump Daniels has had this year? No.
Pickett is closest after 3 years (not 4 like I said) of starting he made a good jump but not a Daniels jump.
2018 6.4 ypa 58.1% completion 120.3 rate
2019 6.6 ypa 61.6% comp 122.4 qb rate
2020 7.3 ypa 61.1% 129.6 qb rate
2021 8.7 ypa 67.2% 165 qb rate
Between 21 and 22 +1.4 ypa +6% comp + 36 qbr
Hooker went on fire after 2 years of starting and immediately when he transferred to Tennessee. His 2021 season 31 tds 3 int, ypa and qbr higher than his 2022 season before his injury 11 games in.
Daniels
2019 8.7 ypa 60.7% 149.2 qbr
2020 8.3 ypa 58 3% 145.7 qbr
2021 7.9 ypa 65.4% 136.2 qbr
2022 7.5 ypa 68.6% 144.5 qbr
2023 11.0 ypa 73.1% 197.7 qbr
Between 22 and 23 +3.5ypa +4.5% comp +53.5 qbr.
After Daniels 1st year at LSU all his stats seemed similar to years prior. Daniels jump in not only ypa and qbr is just down right amazing and I dont think anyone predicted that.
You can say noone predicted Burrow either but he only started 1 season prior not 4 like my point was. Burrow took the world by storm because of how much he improved but Daniels statistically speaking is on pace with him. He's on pace for 63 total tds if hed play 15 games like Burrow did, thats only 2 less tds than Burrow. Not even Daniels biggest fans predicted that.
Why are you even bringing up basketball? Totally different sport with different draft rules make it comparing apples to oranges.

I don't agree with that. With the advent of NIL no one knew what the fallout would be. It didn't take an idiot to make that guess (I was not one of them, BTW).

I do agree with this. But we have a lot of smart people, too. And a lot of the "imbeciles" aren't really imbeciles; many are smart people who just posted some imbecilic stuff. It might have happened to me once or 600 times.

So now we are discussing how big of a jump he made? The point is old college guys make big jumps all the time. It’s kind of what happens when guys stay in school a long time.

My original point, Daniels had started 43 games before this huge jump he's made. It wasnt a hot take that a guy that started 43 games in his college career had hit a ceiling. You gave 3 examples and only one was remotely close to applying to same criteria with Pickett and he started 8 less games than Daniels had by the jump in production (3/4 of a season). I showed how much Daniels even improved over his jump. I still dont believe we see many guys start 36+ games make a huge leap their 4th year at any position much less a position like qb. I could be wrong but to me its fricking impressive how good Daniels has become and it shows his dedication to his craft.
