Simeon Barrow who signed with Miami and Damonic Williams ended up signing with Oklahoma.

I remember the melt here and tbh not sure what kind of year they had but doesn’t seem they lived up to the billings(over 1 mil) since Miami’s defense was horrible and Oklahoma finished 6-6. Just a reminder that the sky isn’t falling every time we miss out on a recruit. Trust the process. LSU has the right people in place to build a championship level roster. GeauxTigers

Their price tag was driven by scarcity, not by talent.

Oklahoma’s defense, and in particular the defensive line, were pretty nasty this year. It was the offense that was terrible

Paez had similar numbers to Williams and was much cheaper. Barrow had 5.5 sacks but not much on tackles, seemed to be a pass rush specialist. Suggs had 2.5 sacks and much cheaper plus we get him for another year. We ended up ok.

Damonic Williams graded out at 72.5 and Simeon Barrow 78.6 with Miami

They both had really good seasons. Does that mean they were worth what they were asking for? Probably not, but they were good players for both teams still. Graded out higher than anyone we had at DT (Suggs was 77.0 but also played like 1/3 to 1/4 of the snaps those guys played), which is why some people were still willing to pay for them.

Barrow led Miami in sacks as a DT

This

I watched Miami several times this year and came away each time muttering to myself "damn, we really could've used Barrow"

That’s the point.

Lol we trusted the process last offseason, didn't overpay, and then went 8-4...

Who did we miss out on that would’ve changed that?

We should have been better.

But I don't think paying those two DTs the clown numbers they wanted would have put us over the top.

Caleb Downs probably would have helped no? Or were you happy with they way Jardin Gilbert and Austin Ausberry played?

I don't think so either, but that was the position that BK put us in. Sucks but it's his fault and he failed regarding that last year. Hopefully he does better this year.

Then bitch about it in a different thread instead of trying to change the topic of this one.

So you’re just going to name random players?

I'm not. He told me to trust the process. I directly said that the process put us at 8-4. He said he believes LSU has the right people in place to build a championship roster. I don't necessarily agree with that, as it's been reports that Joe Sloan has control over how NIL money gets distributed. Those are two things that were said in the OP that I am responding to.

You asked me what players in the transfer portal that LSU did not get could have helped us not go 8-4. I gave you one. If Brian Kelly wants to use the same transfer portal strategy that he did last offseason, so be it. I don't think that is a good idea.

Where was this reported at? Pretty sure Austin Thomas and Coach Kelly handles this but I could be wrong. Can you provide the link please ?

This is what worries me about relying to heavily on the portal.

Weren't they in the second portal window after spring ball?
