The lack of talent on our team started with the recruiting classes of 2019 and 2020 by Coach O.The great majority of these recruits did absolutely nothing at LSU; many of them simply disappeared. That is why when O left we only had 35 scholarship players on hand; the program was toxic. Kelly worked a miracle last year. We are a decent team this year and could end up being very good. We are creating a different culture at LSU that will eliminate the gun toting women abusing, dog abusing, and sometimes mentally defective guys from wearing the purple and gold.

All true; however the 2024 class is a huge concern.

Kelly doesn’t want to hit the portal hard but we will have to for the next few classes if we want a playoff caliber team

Going to need DL, and DB depth in the portal. Maybe a couple LBs

It’s a down year in the state and they are still top 10. There are holes that need to addressed but it’s not a disaster. Hard to recruit defensive lineman when your coach at that position is away from the program.

Look, I get the 24 class hasn’t been what everyone wanted or imagined but to say it’s a disaster class is, in my opinion, shortsighted. Remember when Orgeron, the recruiting guru, reeled in the #15 class in either his 2nd or 3rd full recruiting year? Turns out that wasn’t a sign of things to come because they followed up that class with 2 top 5 finishes. Now, they did a crappy job of running the program and developing those classes so we had a shite sandwich when Kelly took over, but the melting over a top 10 class I think is premature and a symptom of confirmation bias that Kelly can’t recruit. Doesn’t mean there aren’t issues the program needs to address and fix moving forward, but people need to take a breath and relax for a second. The entire league has issues, Georgia included.

I too am concerned with DL, but in state prospects in this area are slim. Perhaps Smith, Wingo, and Jefferson will decide to stay. Jacobian also seems to be improving. I think we have recruited well in the secondary and are doing so again this year. The offensive side of the ball is very impressive, particularly the offensive line which only seems to get better.

Why haven’t we hired a new coach there?

Should finish top 10 which is considered good but not elite. Will have to win the portal. Adjustments are going to need to be made moving after the season. Can not let any mishaps occur with 2025 in state.

Good take. It's far from a disaster. There are 2 holes in it that we are just going to have to address in the portal short term(hopefully), DL/edge and qb. Throw in a couple of ready to play dbs(again hopefully) and it will suffice if we correct the issues we have going forward.

We are stuck right now. There's no good answer to the current situation with our dl coach. You either fire him or move him to another off field job and that's a bad look for lsu unless Lindsey is in board with it.

Otherwise, you wait it out and don't have your dl coach actively coaching and recruiting until he is healthy again.

All that is true, but it still doesn’t confirm if BK can recruit elite players

Yes Farmer Fran Orgeron stopped recruiting players and started recruiting blonde-haired Poon after the 2019 season.

FWIW our 2018 class was ranked 15th nationally but included Ja'Marr Chase, Terrace Marshall, Jaray Jenkins, Damone Clark, Micah Baskerville, Chasen Hines, and Damien Lewis. Our 2024 class is currently ranked better than that. I agree we need to improve but I still have confidence that things will work out.

Can you name all of the guys that we eliminated that toted guns, abused women, and/or dog abused while wearing the purple and gold the past 5 years? What an absolutely insane statement especially considering that Brian Kelly happily welcomed Denver Harris to the team this year.

If that is your reasoning for us not having landed elite recruits the past few years outside of a few here and there, then I think you are very wide of the mark.

Good Post. Finally someone positive and obviously competent. LSU will be in the 12 team playoff for many years to come. ??
