Then apparently Bryce Underwood isn’t really the #1 QB in the country. Probably will look more like Jordan Jefferson

I’m just disappointed in you being an LSU fan saying USC almost 3 peated when you know damn well LSU won the national title in 03. Come on man!!

When you put Berry as your 4th ranked RB in the state then you deserve to be peacocked

You could have collected a bunch of downvotes with much less effort. You know, like you usually do.

His numbers are good but honestly they should (& could) be better given the competition. He doesn’t win the same as of the one percenters that he is compared to
So it is his statistics that concern you?
I can tell you that this is where you are 100% wrong. I know the St Martins coaches. They sit him for the majority of games and that is a purposeful plan. He does not need to break Holly’s record. He does not want to get 30 Carrie’s and 400 yards per game.
To your point…..does this plan stunt his growth as a player? Or does it preserve his body for the long run of his entire career? Obviously, it is not hard for a player of his ability to run circles around Country Day level opponents.
I will choose to believe the coaches and scouts at the Elite Camps that Harlem attends. They believe that he is amongst the best in the country.

No, they aren’t concerning. That’s not how I use stats. Stats are the appetizer or dessert. A starting or ending point.

He’s a 5 star athlete. Of course he looks great anywhere out of pads, and especially running patterns that WRs do. There are very few camp settings that mimic applicable RB situations

He'd be maximizing his potential as an athlete playing WR, though.
I remember when he first started getting hype a couple years ago I said the same thing and people lost their shite.
Keep up the good fight, Les.

He's a situational back and slot receiver. He's not a guy that you run the offense through, but he'll be a matchup nightmare. These offensive coaches know what they're doing.
Posted on 7/8/24 at 7:47 am to SlowFlowPro
Will be hard to gain that traction playing 1A. He won’t get any of the exposures that would lead people to question if he may be better suited to play WR.
Posted on 7/8/24 at 9:18 am to Lester Earl
The situation is fluid. The coaches in the end will do whatever they want with him. He’s being recruited as a running back, but if his chances are much better getting on the field and getting to the pros as a slot receiver thats probably where he will end up. Is his heart set on being a running back? Are the parents insisting that their son play running back? The coaches can have a fireside chat with the parents, and tell them the move would be for his own good.

We are mostly all amateur talent evaluators on here. I doubt you or any of us have done any real amount of film study or gone to their games on all the athletes on your list. That’s what scouts on top teams do for a living. There’s nothing wrong with second guessing the scouting pros, it’s all for grins on here. If someone makes enough predictions that go against the grain, they are bound to get one right.
For purposes of discussion, you have listed Nate Sheppard as the second ranked back in state. Sheppard has 2 offers from SEC teams, one of those being Vandy. The odds of you, or any of us for that matter, knowing more about Sheppard compared to the talent scouts of the best teams in the SEC and indeed the country are close to nil.
There is still nothing wrong with having an unpopular opinion I guess. And you did go to some effort to make your list, thats good. It feels like a troll list though, in the sense that you intentionally made a controversial list that you knew would get lots of downvotes. I think some folks on here enjoy negative attention and getting a rise out of everyone.
I would note on your assertion that Sheppard doesn’t “loose” ground, that you must have meant “lose”. Lose is the opposite of win or gain. Loose is the opposite of tight. I guess he could lose ground if he was running on loose gravel, but I do not think it correct to say he would loose ground on lose gravel.
In sum, I for one appreciate the effort you put into your list, even though it feels like a troll job. Your observation that Berry plays against inferior talent is fair, but the scouts for all the teams know that and take it into consideration. They not only at objective stats like 40 time, vertical jump, etc that are the same for all classes, they also watch the kids live and watch the top kids at camps where 1A kids are pitted against 5A kids.
Real scouts go to camps and watch kids live. How many camps did you attend? How many of your list have you seen live? How much film study did you do? Or did you just go look at other lists and use them to make your own? I’ll give you an A for the time and effort you went into to make the list, a D or incomplete for the list itself.

I would note for the purpose of this discussion that college football teams do not employ scouts. Furthermore, these scouts (coaches) do not compose recruiting lists & rankings.
I would also note your assertion of Nate Sheppard only having 2 SEC offers as a legitimate point. However, based on data for the position (college production, testing numbers, entrance into the nfl, etc), that means very little. Great RBs come from everywhere, in every size, and with varying skillsets. It is my assertion, based on his talents, , that his stick will indeed rise with the all important Sr year evaluation.
Sheppard perhaps has slipped through the cracks for not having the prototypical size & measureables. However, it is undeniable that he has the traits of a very successful RB. We look forward to his Sr year & proving us right.

On3 moves Ford from No. 29 to No 30.
Keylan Moses is No. 3 on Rivals. No. 18 on On3.

Now you are playing semantics to further the implied argument that you can evaluate talent better than LSU coaches.
All of the LSU assistant coaches, as well as other SEC coaches, help recruit their positions and act in that capacity as scouts. They attend high school games, go to camps and study film. You did not answer the question as to whether you have seen this kids in person or studied their film. LSU even has a recruiting coordinator, Sherman Wilson.
I agree coaches dont make recruiting lists and rankings, that’s why I place more emphasis on the offers kids get than recruiting site rankings, although they often correspond. How many of these 16 kids have you seen play?
All that said, your list makes for some off season discussion and I appreciate the effort you put into it.

Also moved moved Simon to #161 overall down from #115 overall. JT Lindsey at #166 overall so basically no difference between the 2 of them now in their eyes.
Berry stays in Top 20 overall at #17

Well according to the draft On3 has been the most accurate the last 2 years.
Doesn't mean those guys above won't be good college players
Ford is a RB from a past era of football - 10-15 years ago he would have multiple SEC schools knocking down is doors - nowadays not so much unless he's Kaleb Jackson fast

You are asking questions I answered with a disclaimer in the very first paragraph of my first post,
This isn’t a court room my friend. And is just for fun. No need to be so contentious.
Scouting, even up to the highest level, has been proven to be inexact. There is plenty of room for opinion, even just as a hobbyist.

The difference in the the top five outside of Berry is minimal. They are all extremely similar. Calvary beats up on alot of smaller public schools half the year but did have a few early impressive wins last year as well. I think the Captain Shreve back Otis is a top 12-15 back in the state and one to watch out for. Ford was the best rb I saw last year in person and best combination of size, strength and speed I've seen in a few years just in terms of athlete.

Otis transferred to a school in Arizona according to this Twitter bio. That’s why I did not include him

I mean, do you think it's at all possible that Wilson, Sloan and Hankton have a completely different plan for Berry?
He's not the only RB we're after in that class.
