I went out to my car and caught the end of the Dad's comments. They went to break, came back and the host basicly recap saying that the LSU coaches promised them one thing and then said soemthig else to Benton. They went on to say that they would have had LSU as the front runner before the interview, and would now put them at third.

so that confirmation that LSU is not dead

It is confirmation that LSU aint exactly alive either. It also confirms that what people where saying was regardless we get one badass WR is not a lock. You have to think if this is acutally the way things went down Benton might be a little pissed as well.

Speaking objectively, there are two scenarios here:

1) This alleged "double talk" by LSU has been going on for some time. In which case it would have made more sense for Randle to drop LSU down his list earlier on, instead of everyone (in Bastrop at least) being given the impression (even implicitly) that LSU was leading.

2) This alleged "double talk" by LSU is a very recent development. In which case it would make absolutely no sense for Randle to commit tomorrow. Instead, he would give LSU a chance to explain the situation and clear the air, and then make a decision.

If the Randles' story is that this was a recent development and RR commits elsewhere without LSU being given a chance to clear this up, it seems a little disingenuous on the Randles' part, no?

Well, if its lying the Randals are worried about, Alabama is definitely out of the picture.

"I am not interested in coaching the Miami Dolphins".

24 months later...

"I am not interested in coaching at Alabama"

well, none of us can work it out so why should we all be giving our opinions about what we think is going on and why right here posible in front of them?

Hope Randall signs and then Bentons signs a couple of days latter. I feel that once randle beefs up some under Moffit he will not be afraid of competition.

On the other hand if LSU lied to daddy then that is not good. Of course it could have been miscommunication.

On the other hand for Randle's dad to bad mouth LSU that really sux.

We survived Katrina, we survived McKnight and we will defintely survive Randle if we must. We won a national championship after McKnight signed with the condoms.

haha

cmon man try and stay positive.

i think were still good. randle doesnt seem like the type to just have everything handed to him. you have to earn a spot on LSU's depth chart. he should know that. you gotta compete

there's a third scenario in which randle just prefers bama or oklahoma and this story is to soften the blow and take some of the heat off of the randle family

I really hope that the coaches aren't so stupid that they would tell contradictory stories to two guys who live in the same town, especially since they would have been the second and third wide receivers (at worst) in 2010. I don't think either of them were exactly worried about playing time.

The dad is flat out seeking an excuse to soften the blow of RR going elsewhere.

So the strategy is to soften the blow to Lousiana/LSU by blaming LSU? If that's the case, that strategy needs to be "rethunk." It's more like creating a wound and rubbing salt in it.

Supposedly we're to believe that Randle was cool with competing against Toliver, but not against Benton. This is straight bullshite.

I don't believe the coaches told conflicting stories. It wouldn't make sense to do so. Seems as though the coaches (who knows if it was the same coach(es) talking to each player?) were discussing possible scenarios for competition. Surely someone would assume that receivers only played one side of the field and the coaches wouldn't try to put the two best receivers on the field at all times.

Agree.

We can speculate later if this turns out badly
