We don't have the money to keep up with the OU Texas and
Aggies. If we do have the money folks don't want to put it out for college football .

That is what recruiting is. They didn't win a head to head battle with fsu for a great player.

There are no difference makers at end. They have been getting beat for difference makers

That was the point. His recruiting is questionable

Lol I get crushed for downing this staff and their recruiting. But defensively they ain’t coaching them up or recruiting elite athletes. Now that’s FACTS!

They have to make a move quickly on the DL position coach. Otherwise, they're setting themselves up to miss badly again in 2025.

Maybe after tonight people will finally realize we can't keep losing these head to head recruiting battles and just "be fine" with transfer portal players.

You will keep losing the recruiting battles. Texas schools plus some others have more money. I don’t care what people realize, doesn’t change anything.

We could be fine with transfer players. Just not transfers from McNeese, ULL and Southeastern.

Yeah Speights, Shand, the Texas player, and Chestnut look fantastic!!! frick the portal. Finding Burrows in the portal is rare. We aren’t going to win championships if that’s our strategy

Yah, we do. TAF is the envy of the SEC and while Bayou Traditions war chest isn’t on par with UT’s or A&M’s, it’s certainly enough to keep lsu competitive with those schools.

The poor mouthing that Tiger fans engage in is a little odd, IMO. There is enough money flowing in to compete on the recruiting trail. If we’re getting clobbered on the recruiting trail then that most likely falls on the personnel that BK is hiring.

just don’t see Kelly making changes, will not get into bidding wars for 5 stars.
he doesnt have to. He just needs to tell the right person that he wants insert player name and that person takes it from there. Just continue recruiting the player like normal and the bag man will take care of the rest. At this point. Not just our staff but all staffs across the country need that extra bit of help. If you dont pay, someone else will

I’ll keep saying this until I’m blue in the fricking face. It’s a pay to play league now. If you don’t want to put up the dough then you’ll be left in the dust. It’s just the way the game is now. Sure will you have the occasional recruit that just wants to come play for LSU? Yes. But most kids want the bag and if we’re not willing to outbid our rivals then it’ll be a slow miserable decline.

Kelly is going to need to re-structure his salary (behind the scenes) to fund hiring better coaches and adding to the NIL kitty. He can make "donations" to shell charities to address the latter.

Exactly this. They are spending too much money funding Broomhilda’s lawsuit against St. George.

I agree with the wake-up call. I've been smelling the brewing coffee for months now and getting slammed on the recruiting board for just being honest.

Now, finally, people are agreeing with me and lsufanva that things are overly stale regarding the high-school recruiting of CBK & company.

I hope I'm wrong wrong on this prediction, but as it currently appears, we will be around 15th as quite a few teams will be passing us up...

I see this repeatedly said on here. What sources do you have to back this claim?

Texas and A&M I will give you, but OU?
There is plenty of money to be had for LSU NIL. It was just posted earlier this year that since 2003, LSU athletics has received second most overall donations behind only Georgia (IIRC) in the SEC. Yes even Bama and A&M and even OSU were behind LSU. There is plenty money for LSU to use.

I think the issue is that BK either doesn’t know how to use NIL (vestiges of Orgeron all over again) or he flat out won’t do what’s necessary. Either would make sense since he talks non-stop about taking lower ranked Louisiana transfers to LSU rather than going hard in the paint for the big fish.

ETA: found it here. According to this, LSU is 7th nationally in athletic donations since 2005, but behind Texas, A&M, UF, and UGA in conference.

Reality check - LSU simply does not have the NIL foundation to compete with the resources available to most of the conference, particularly the Texas and Florida schools. For that matter, UGA is significantly wealthier than LSU as well.

When NIL hit, I knew that was the end. I just didn't know how long it would take. Now we know.

If things keep going in this direction Woodward and TAF will be faced with requesting money to buyout BK. Instead of having to come up with 10s of millions for a buyout why not rally the donors to come up with $5 million or so a year to reel in some big fish through NIL?

It's a value proposition. Get BK some talent Woodward by rallying some of your big donors.

That money is going toward coaches salaries, facilities, etc. Apparently not to recruiting.

I like Steeples a lot more than Cooks on staff.

Get a great DC who is a good recruiter and get a couple off recruiting assassins in Cooks role and as DL coach.
