I think O was ready to hang it up when he saw the disaster he created early on this year. Dude knew he blew it but wants to stay around the game and does have that ambassador role in his contract. Most of the fan base likes O and appreciate the ‘19 season but are glad he isn’t in the drivers seat anymore.

This is great for the program. Slinger is doing nothing unexpected for him. BK should and is taking advantage of having E at his disposal. If O is willing to stick close and become an advisor for BK I feel that Kelly is going to accept the help. Woodward hired BK to steer the program, not to know everything, so if we have a small group of NC winners supporting him he is wise to use them.

I wouldn’t call loyalty to LSU awkward especially for Ensminger.
It was definitely time for a change in direction, but I agree - I have no problem at all seeing O and Slinger be ambassadors for LSU football.

Demotions only work when a man has mastered his ego. Has O mastered his ego ? Of course, combined with a financial motive and a decent disposition this becomes much more plausible. I am optimistic. If O is enthusiastically selling the University that speaks well for everyone involved starting with Woodward.

I don’t do that. There were other LSU people there, I just rather let them do their thing. Any news I get on players and their reactions and I will let y’all know.

Again, they still work for LSU.

O’s contract mandates that he represents LSU. He’s still getting paid millions from the school. In my opinion, he would do it anyway. That’s the kindof guy he is. But this isn’t odd at all and should be expected moving forward.

Has to do 1 public appearance per year which doesn’t start until 2022. This wasn’t that.
While he certainly is not required to do this type of thing, he could've agreed to this type of role unofficially. It seems like he is keeping in the spotlight and going to a lot of high school games.

Nah, it’s most definitely part of the contractual agreement.

Orgeron, who signed a six-year extension worth about $42 million after the 2019 national championship, was due 70% of his remaining salary under the terms of his deal if he was fired without cause.
As part of the agreement, Orgeron will make at least one public appearance per year on behalf of LSU beginning in 2022 through the end of the deal. The appearances will not last more than two hours unless agreed upon by Orgeron and the school. He will make four total.

What if O and Slinger just enjoy Louisiana high school football? I'm sure they do. So being all LSU it's best for all involved.

I understand that. I'm talking about being at the Dome with Kelly.

I think recruits seeing Coach Kelly and Coach O together shows the effort they are all willing to take for LSU. Can’t say it enough, this is huge as far as recruiting goes. Guess we’ll all soon see.

I don’t think Coach Kelly was there.

More importantly he handled his departure like a professional.

Perhaps there was a cooperation clause and even a non-compete clause in the separation agreement whereby Orgeron had to satisfy these needs when requested in exchange for the full by out to be paid at each installment. That would help eliminate dissent during the transition (even if occasional requests may be made in years two and beyond.
That could explain why such a high buyout was agreed to so quickly.
