I'm telling you. We offered Bates casue he's pretty good overall but we wanted a pipeline to MJ. As the time went by, and MJ wouldn't even mention LSU or any of it's coaches he likes, LSU chose to offer the greyshirt to Bates (basically saying please leave) because it was evident from MJ that he likes many other coaches/schools and LSU has NO shot!
Bates is a punk for hauling arse though just to say he "signed" with a D 1 school. He could have lived his dream to play for LSU after the 1st semester and helped land his teammate and play alongside him in college.
Bates, you weren't going to see time your first year anyway!! WTF is wrong with you? The Fighting Ill..nevermind, what a dumb move, you won't play next year there either.

Mickey Johnson isn't the kind of recruit that would require you to offer one of his friends as well. He's not an elite prospect.

Sorry but as deep as this class is and as few schollies we have to offer we werent gonna just piss one away in 2010 to get a guy in 2011 that for the last 9 months was not considered an elite prospect. We have Chucky Hunter that by most accounts is just as good just not a state champion weight lifter, sitting waiting for his offer because he is dying to be a tiger. So I'm okay with Bates going to Illinois because the guys gonna get a good education and see the field much sooner, hell most think he was never gonna see the field here anyway.

By your logic then would it not have been smart for us to try and pull William Russ K (Texas), or Brandon Jackson (Texas A&M, I think had a late offer from us.) all Evangel players who signed last year in order to try and build a pipeline to Rasco, a FARRRRRRRR better prospect?

My grandson is a Senior at St. Paul's and will be at LSU next year, friends with MJ. St. Paul's is a great school, and has a great Alumni that are close.
