From what I read simmons is the 1st top 20 instate recruit to pick the horns. I guess they were saving all that NIL money to get him.

He was absolutely the top target on their board nationally and in state. Reports that they weren’t going to let him leave the state are more accurate than ever after reading some of his comments yesterday after he committed.

Its a good strategy because with transfer rules they will be gone if someone bids more at anytime.

Any kid coming to your school because of the money will leave your school if the money elsewhere gets better.

Seems like the most bang for the buck of our NIL funds is in the transfer portal. We cant go head to head with aTm, Texas. Ohio St. Bama USC and some of these schools for high school recruit. Best use is to get good value proven players from the portal

Kelly won’t do bidding wars.

He definitely will in certain instances. I’m pretty sure we were in a bidding war with Texas for Simmons. Obviously we don’t have as much money as them, but for certain recruits LSU will absolutely try to win them with money.

Exactly. LSU has to be more strategic with NIL and depending on circumstances I have no doubt BK will direct resources towards particular recruits that are dynamic AND within reach.

As long as we can’t outbid the top schools it’s in the writing we aren’t winning champions until Kelly bends his rules

Tigerfan88 I don’t know why you have so many downvotes. It is a fact that we don’t have the money Texas and a&m have . You can put Georgia in that same category if you want …..

CBK is the Coach and a Damn Good One the best -Saban we’ve ever had.
But LSU has a better football program than Texas, top facilities, recent history of Nattys,
But no matter who we blame, hate on, cry to, or melt
We (LSU) will never never ever have the FUNDS that Texas & a$m have
NEVER!!!!!

I know many posters on here are obsessed with recruiting. The portal has lessened the importance of high school recruiting, probably forever. A top 5 recruiting ranking is not a priority for a coach that is good at navigating the transfer portal.

True words. A combination of high school and transfer players are building a roster. We had starters from other schools come in to help earn a starting position, an provide depth. The two years in the portal, has paid off for Kelly and Staff. Kelly Will continue to play this card when necessary.

I wonder on average how much of these guys NIL money gets burned through paying for family members and friends travel/lodging to attend home games in other states. I'll bet in some cases they're looking to transfer to refill their checking account after the 1st year.

You do know LSU Women’s Basketball has a girl Aneesha Morrow that transferred in from DePaul. Even though she starred in a Nike commercial as a high schooler, Morrow has an NIL valuation of $21,000. Now she is playing for a school that have four athletes in the top 10 of NIL valuation for women’s athletics. LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne tops the list, followed by Reese at No. 2, Johnson at No. 3 and Van Lith at No. 6.
