You mean you wouldn’t rather play Tarleton State, Drake and trailing Prairie View A&M at home after the first half?

Ok I'm gonna express a concern that many will likely hate but here it goes:
I like that CWW is thinking outside the box and have no issue with getting Euro Pros to come play at LSU. It would seems to me that getting one or two questionable players eligible wouldn't have been an issue. BUT trying to get an entire team of loophole players eligible seems like its destined to backfire.
Again, I am not saying he is doing anything morally wrong like most of CBB but he has put a huge target on his back (well...a bigger one than he already had) and the NCAA and the powers that be will do everything they can to make sure he doesn't get to trot out a team of "illegal" players.
I also worry that this will affect our ability to get guys eligible in the future. Just seems like an extremely risky plan that isn't likely to work. and If these guys don't get ruled eligible, it'll be egg in CWW and LSU's face. We will get another media cycle talking shite about our university.

Besides Luis Jr. They aren’t loophole guys or going to be challenging. They are not eligible right now because they haven’t even filed to become eligible and start their clock with the NCAA. They haven’t applied to college, they don’t live, have visas yet, or have visited the country. Of course they aren’t eligible they just finished officially like two days ago playing in Europe. LSU isn’t sneakily or trying to skirt any rule or regulation, or by law with them besides Luis Jr. They just haven’t even applied which they will most likely get immediately when they do.

My question is, how the frick are they illegal? They are all currently in being reviewed for eligibility. If the NCAA rules them ineligible then they don't play or have to fight for eligibility.

Have you heard anything about Sergio De Larrea? There seems to be some chatter that we are linked to Sergio.

Won't they be affected by the age limit when the 5 for 5 thing passes?
If they won't then I am wrong and it a great strategy but it seems that the 5 for 5 legislation will make older players illegal.

If I recall, it's not retro active. So once it goes in place, it will affect future classes or cycles. That's my understanding.

So I found out about a week ago, they were in contact, was able to say it yesterday. He would be the best of all the EUROs if he came. The chatter is this, LSU is pretty much there with if he considered after the draft coming to college for a year it would be LSU nobody else has even reached out so. But there is the fact, a team like OKC could definitely draft him to hide, if he’s a first round pick may not have a choice. He wants to come over and start his NBA journey but if he’s a second round pick won’t be his sole decision for a year. His parents and agent are totally on board as having LSU as an option. It’s not his goal or first option. But I believe having all these others from Europe if the draft doesn’t go his way maybe they could sway him after. They haven’t even discussed money though. So it would be weeks after the draft to hear anything.

Ah ok. Yeah it can't hurt.

If and when it passes as it’s currently conceived. None of them had started their clocks, besides I don’t know how you could legally set an arbitrary age ceiling for the 5 and 5. As in for decades the NCAA has allowed cross sport pros to come back mostly baseball to football guys at any age to start their clocks in another amateur sport. The 5 in 5 won’t affect any of these guys either they aren’t 2-3 year guys even they are 3 month mercenaries. In the portal top 100 you have what 30 internationals right now but they are all 2-3-4 year college guys even the ones that played professionally overseas. So I think it will almost be like grad transfers for these guys in a sense is how the NCAA should craft a rule if they want to limit it or do something.

Part of the legislation is that the clock starts at either HS graduation or 19 years of age regardless of college enrollment. The whole point is to stop 25 year olds from playing in college.
I hope you are correct and most of these guys won't have any issue at all. I am not cheering for it to go against LSU, it just seems like a tall order to get this many guys eligible. Hopefully CWW has his ducks in order and get it done.

Being a lawyer by trade only, the NCAA looks like a huge insurance company right now that is just denying every claim they get, and then when they get sued left and right, they are just signing up every defense firm they can find and paying them full well knowing they are going to lose. By now there has to be between football, men’s and women’s basketball, there have even been golf cases, track and field cases, maybe hundred or thousands of individual “cases” where they may only be winning on the merit 2-3% of the time. With new legislation, they would still be at odds with federal antitrust laws. Even after a 25 year age limit is imposed, you still have religious, military, medical, and state laws where it can be easily argued and won they can’t do it.
I personally agree I don’t want unlimited player movement, no restrictions on the type of transfers, and I would like some kind of age/prior experience bylaw. Because i’m not worried it will ruin or fundamentally change college athletics. I’m worried in 10-15 years some of these gets gobbled up by pro sports or overnight a university has to cease athletics and are left with a ridiculous I don’t know $200-$300 million shortfall overnight. Have asked on social media, multiple pages of message boards, coaches, players. So if what LSU is doing is “wrong” is what everyone else doing wrong as well. I’m not talking about the hypocrisy of it, i’m talking about the reality that’s in front of everyone. I feel like when they started this about a month ago, knew then it would cause a huge stir and upend things, didn’t think the vast majority of people would be detached from reality about it.

Looks like BYU thought they had him locked up.

Those “LSU fans” that were on this board a month ago crowing about how Wade only had one commit are REAL quiet now.
What’s the matter? Calipari got your tongue?
