Hypocrisy!!!!!!
Mitchell gained eligibility via a Kentucky 5-for-5 case. Sankey has mostly commented on 5-for-5 in broader terms and has not focused on individuals.

September 29 is a date to circle. This is when the next hearing is set for the California case that made Clarkk and Dent eligible. If a stay is issued, as has been in the Colorado & Ohio cases, then they would be ruled ineligible. Lsu has an exhibition game vs. McNeese October 8.

Sankey wrote an affidavit against Luis cause he signed a professional contract.
Mark Mitchell on the other hand signed an exhibit 10 contract with the Denver Nuggets. He went on to play in the NBA Summer League.
We have outrage against Luis. But we have crickets when it comes to Mark Mitchell!

It illustrates a lot the ambiguity in enforcement which is driving some of this.
Neither Luis nor Mitchell were drafted. Both signed contracts with pro NBA teams. The difference is that Luis went through traning camp with Boston. He signed a two-way contract with Boston, but only played in a few preseason games before being cut. He never played a game in the G-league because he was waived due to injury.
Then you have a guy like Thierry Darlan from Africa. He initially played for an African pro team before going to the G-league where he played 30 games over the course of 2 years. He was allowed to play for Santa Clara by the NCAA. The position being that (1) he never previously attended college and (2) he didn't sign a contract with an NBA team.
Luis never played in a G-league game. He never played in an NBA regular season game. He did sign a "NBA contract", but he essentially never played under it. The 5 for 5 rule tries to fix some of this, but the selective enforcement of which pros are allowed to play and which aren't is a mess.
But then you juxtapose that against what has long been allowed by the NCAA. That is a guy playing pro ball in one sport returning to play another sport in college. That's exactly what Josh Booty did

I understand Luis not being listed officially, since he was just announced, but why hasn't LSU officially listed Dent and Clark?

Luis’ lawyers showed yesterday in his hearing that he did not play in a single game of professional basketball. Yet there were 92 foreign professional players presently in college basketball that played in many professional games and were paid in most cases much much much more than Luis.
The NCAA approved these foreign players to play anyway and Luis was not.
This is how Luis won his case yesterday.

The NCAA has long let international "pros" play. That use to not be an issue...until playing college basketball paid better than playing international pro basketball. That flooded the market with good international who otherwise would have never played US college basketball. Proactive coaches took advantage of the change in the marketplace. Now the NCAA wants to pick and choose which international pros made too much money overseas to play college ball while simultaneously allowing the bums who didn't make much money free access to college basketball.

This was always the risk with the way we approached the offseason. Hopefully it works out but still just find it indefensible to not get for sure production out of the portal

Except Mitchell didn't sign his E10 contract and is still eligible to play for Kentucky until a stay is issued in the Kentucky case.
It appears RJ Luis (LSU), Bryson Warren (Texas A&M), and Akoldah Gak (Oklahoma) are excluded from SEC play under the new rules.

It’s not even just the new SEC rule. It’s the NCAA guidelines introduced in April about international players. The guy from Utah last night being ruled ineligible was a really big deal

The NCAA never explicitly said they were enforcing the new international rules this cycle. Many coaches, including Wade, were operating under the assumption that the new rules wouldn't be enforced until next season. The NCAA issued a clarifying statement today.

I remember them coming out with something during the portal time period with something about “earnings can’t exceed expenses” but I think everyone kinda blew it off
