Attempting to rebuild from what? It was Year 4.
Wouldn’t that be the head coach’s responsibility to devise game plans to overcome those obstacles? Yes or no.
Also would you care to explain how Texas Tech lost JT Toppin for the rest of the season yet the very next game (first without him) they went on the road and beat the #4 ranked team in the country? You can take your time to answer that one.

so we don't know how much of a difference their participation would have made.
I think we do...very little. That's not sour grapes. That's an opinion drawn from 120+ games of data for four years
quote:
For comparison sake do you beleive the four transfers signed by Wade are better than Nwoko, Mckinnon, Sutton and Thomas.
It is entirely possible they are not. But I don't think either group could have had any success under McMahon. If it isn't abundantly clear by now, I'm firmly of the opinion that all of the blame for the last 4 years of awful results were because of McMahon. No collection of players could have had success under him under no circumstances. That's because 4 largely different rosters tried and 4 different rosters failed. There was only one common denominator (maybe 2, but I don't think Kent Lowe had anything to do with the struggles). Which is ultimately while I find the "concern" silly.
The same ones expressing concern didn't seem to have any when LSU was losing more game than anyone else in the SEC for four years. But now there is concern, three months before a single game has been played, that LSU may struggle? If so, then that would just put the program in the same place it left off and would be if McMahon was kept for another year. Given the apparent choice was either year 5 of McMahon or Wade, I'll take the latter. Hell, I'd take the latter with a D-3 roster. THAT is how bad McMahon was.
What Wade is doing is unorthodox. No one is arguing otherwise. But when you are already at the bottom what do you have to lose? And considering Wade's 12 year history as a HC it seems highly unlikely he all of a sudden forgot how to recruit, structure rosters, and coach a team to a point of at LEAST making the NCAA tournament. That's the reason for the lack of concern.
That's why I think the "concern" is really just faux "concern" raised as an anti-Wade talking point by the same ones who vehemently argued against LSU rehiring Wade, or for reasons unknown to any LSU basketball fan, wanted to bring McMahon back for another year. The people who for some reason hate that LSU basketball fans are excited that Wade is back moreso than they actually like LSU basketball. It's a search for any negative to latch on to in the moment for those who spent the last 4 year ridiculed for trying to illogically defend what everyone with a shred of honestly saw...that McMahon was a bad coach and the program was awful because of it.

That's great! Wade doesn't "run and gun or consistently press either. He will utilize it intermittently to increase the tempo, or when the end of game situation calls for it. NC State played at essentially the same tempo as Wisconsin last season. His McNeese teams played much slower. Even his LSU teams generally ranked in the 70s-80s nationally in terms of tempo. Compare that to Alabama who, under Oats, has always been in the top 15. I guess that's just another hallucination of what people think is "streetball". Wade's been willing to adapt his style (at least offensively) to his personnel. Wade has whiffed since he's been here. His team hasn't played a single game since he's returned as HC. So how can anyone judged whether he has "whiffed" or not? he's missed on a few recruits, and has upset another. HS recruits? Who cares? That's not primarily how great teams are built anymore and there is no guarantee any stay beyond one season.
Even if LSU doesn’t press, they still have to prepare to handle pressure. If many players are not used to it, it will lead to many turnovers if we’re not prepared to face it. That preparation takes time. As far as whiffing, I think he meant whiffing on some transfers.
My concern is that the boosters have given Wade the benefit of the doubt, but I imagine they expect a return on their investment. Will they keep funding subsequent years if they believe their money isn’t being used wisely?

You both, or should i say all the douches on both sides of this CMM debate, take the air out of the room and totally ruin every MBB thread and this board. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE knows exactly what your thoughts are on this matter. They NEVER need to be brought up again. We all know exactly your simpleton thoughts on the matter. So STFU please. Thank you.

You have NOTHING but a loser's mentality.
This is why he couldn't do this, this is why he couldn't do that.
Stop wiping McMahon's arse CONSTANTLY. It's sickening.
There is nothing more accurate in judging a coach's performance than his record. Especially over FOUR LONG YEARS!

It never works, been tried. Fans get tittilated to see their gridiron heroes on the court. They may make a few athletic plays, bu toverall they are not in synch with a team which has been practicing together for four months.

Appreciate your sanctimony, but your ire should be directed at those who continuously inssit upon inserting McMahon into every discussion about LSU basketball. These people must have a villain to exist , its the air which keeps them alive, one fricking gratuitous and snarky comment after another. The guy has been gone almost six months , The focus should be on the current coach and his recruiting efforts and roster construction.

Are you under the impression Wade is trying to bring in several 17-18 year old freshmen who have never played basketball beyond the HS level? As of now the "youngest" player in terms of experience he's bringing in is Divine Ugochukwu...who is a junior who has played in 50 games on an ACC and Big 10 team. The rest of the guys are either professionals and/or 5th year seniors. Call it a hunch, but I suspect they have enough experience at this point in their basketball careers to handle pressure.

The boosters aren't just giving Wade the "benefit of the doubt". They helped remake the entire athletic department and the school's top position to, in part, get Wade back to LSU. They are sitting around right now thinking "Gee, I hope this guy knows what he's doing"
quote:

How does anyone know if the money is "being used wisely"? LSU hasn't played a single game yet this season!
Why don't we wait to worry about things until there is actually a basis for which to worry? Especially considering the same people who are now "worried" didn't seem to be worried when the prior coach completely crapped himself in year 1 and never got much better for 3 years after that. The same people who every offseason were convinced "THIS YEAR McMahon will get that illusive winning SEC record, or at least just not finish at the bottom of the league" are the same ones "worried" that a guy who has never had a losing season in his entire career has suddenly forgotten how to manage and coach a basketball team

I want the team to succeed, but I don’t accept everything unquestionably. I don’t like where the team stands based on what is known. If the rumors are true that most are going to be enrolled in time, I’ll be happy. If we also get a good PG, then I’ll be thrilled.

Then keep your focus there and stop responding to the stuff that you don't want to talk about. It's not that difficult.

but I will point out that once again the former coach was gratuitously inserted into the discussion for no valid reason
Wellll he was the coach last year so he’s gonna be Brought up a lot. Especially since he was hot garbage in every aspect annd oversaw the worst 4 yr period in men’s basketball in over a half century. These are facts with zero evidence otherwise. And now we have a good coach again. So there will be references and comparisons nonstop. It’s just how it is and has been with every coaching transition in history.
Maybe for your own mental health you should get over it and stop thinking you’re his sworn protector.
It’s really weird. It would also be greatly appreciated by the board.
I’ve become part of the problem by responding to you so I think I’ll try to ignore you like you should ignore any factual statements about the last coach.

Great point. He certainly is. In 12 years as a HC, he's had pretty good years in 6 of them, and ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE years in the other 6. It's a crap shoot whether Wade improves a program when he takes over, or makes them worse. It's also spotty AT BEST that he'll put a talented team on the floor based on his inconsistent history. I don't think you're freaking out enough
I think your sarcasm/joke went over most people’s head there.

Why keep inserting the former coach to buttress your position. That is not the barometer. If you are satisfied Wade's approach is going to be successful it should stand on its own. I agree we won't know until they have played some games and how that compares to prior years is irrelevant.
Yes, Wade has been successful, but his approach this year is radically different and the outcome will stand on its own. Not everyone inquiring or questioning the approach is hoping he fails, such paranoia is absurd. I want the program to soar to unprecedented heights and hope to see a national championship banner in the PMAC. I will support whoever is coaching and whomever is wearing the purple and gold with LSU across the chest. Lets focus on the here and now and hopefully a bright future and leave the past in the past.

I dont give flying frick what you and the other assholes on this board who keep inseting him into every basktball thread thinks. The fact that you intentionally want to continue inserting him into these discussions makes one question your mental health, You must have a villain to make your pathetic arse seem relevant.
