Have the McMen found their 2025-26 excuse? “We lost Givens at the 11th hour. What do you expect Matt to do? He needs another year!”

Okay then. Who has McMahon signed in the last week? List them in alphabetical order please.

Bro this just makes you look stupid like get a monthly check stupid. Before you make dumb comments do your research . I guess she was a 3 time AA for missing layup. I will never understand why so many people hate Reese because she helped LSU grow as a program People praised Rodman for the way he played the game and she is alot better scorer then Rodman. AR is a very solid freethrow shooter. Everything I said isn't my opinion its a fact and I've got receipts to back what I say up

going into a men’s offseason recruiting thread to get pissed about a former women’s basketball player…that’s unique

Do you want me to pull up a random reel of her missed layups catalog?

I like Reese. I like women’s basketball. I like Skylar Mays. Reese isn’t the only woman who struggles to make layups.

It was admittedly a halfhearted joke. Don’t take it so personal buddy.

Just think how miserable someone's life has to be to be on here making negative comments about a basketball coach during the offseason. Pretty pathetic. You really gotta have absolutely nothing else going on in your life.

So this is where it gets interesting. Looking at 6'7" Harper who is listed as a SF but played SG and who dominated his conference as a freshman, albeit a mid major, but shows multiple skills when it comes to scoring, rebounding and assists or a 6'1" backup guard from one of the better teams in the SEC.

With Givens gone you need another PG. Can’t just hope and pray Reece is ready to be the backup as a freshman

We have 3 spots open , it doesn’t have to be one or the other as long as we can afford both

Didn't realize he was a PG. That makes sense. I thought Reece was a SG.

I think he was the beneficiary of playing on a loaded all star team where he had 4 studs including Cooper Flagg playing with him. He lacked the physical mentality that was needed in the SEC and he struggled to make even wide open 3's. He may develop into that and was hoping he stayed and improved but I guess he felt he was worth more than he was and decided to walk.

Just a quick look at a couple of teams on that list:
A&M has a starting pg, may need a backup pg.
Ole Miss doesn't seem to have any pg's right now.

Just updated the portal contacts list with the new names from the past few days. Some updates:

*** The staff is wasting no time in finding a backup PG replacement with already reaching out to Travis Perry. He has previous connections to the staff here and visited out of high school back when Cody Toppert was on staff.

***Haven't heard anything regarding Blake Harper since the list came out. Creighton guys felt good about him before the list. Not sure if Klutch is just using LSU and others as leverage but would feel really good if we can get a visit scheduled here soon.

*** Should see and hear more about visits being scheduled as this week progresses. With there being no more entries into the portal, the pool of players to choose from is set, and the staff can start honing in on the guys they've already contacted and newer names.

Not sure if you know, but is any NIL budget opened up by Givens leaving? Or is it a little more tied up for a while?

I am guessing whatever he was getting would be more than enough for Travis Perry.

I don’t have any confirmation but was told by someone that Givens was gonna get around 400k before he left. Which is about the going rate for a back up power conference guard. So that money has opened whatever the amount was.

Not sure what Rob Miller was getting before but an educated guess would tell me more than Givens. Maybe like 600k? So if Miller got upped to a million then that pretty much offsets the 400k we gained back from Givens. Just thinking out loud lol

I would have guessed $400k for Givens as well.

Givens was one of the worst rated players in the SEC who played as many minutes as he did. However, he would certainly improve next season, and he played a lot of minutes in the CMM system. Evan Miya just did a roster analysis for the portal era and returning players with experience is still one of the best indicators of success. This is bad news for CMM.

quote:

To illustrate this, the graph below categorizes every D1 team from the last four seasons into groups based on their preseason roster score ranking. For example, all teams ranked between 110th and 70th are grouped together, while those ranked in the top 35 are in another group. When you look at the average end-of-season ranking at EvanMiya.com for teams within each group, the teams that gave returning players at least 50% of the team’s minutes during the season always finish better on average than the teams that gave a majority of their minutes to new players.

We don't yet know what the final LSU roster will look like or how minutes will be distributed, but we can calculate an average BPR for the current players. The current roster rates out at 1.56 avg BPR. For reference, last seasons team was 1.86 and the season prior was 2.22. It's likely LSU will go into next seasons in that 70 - 110 roster ranking group and the vast majority of minutes will go to new players.

As of today, it's probably a safe bet that this isn't a NCAA tourny roster next season.
