I really wish Oregon was not having such a great year. They have an embarrassment of riches at WR. Maybe there is a chance Moore sees that there might be a 5 star clog over there and Durham can convince him to stay closer to home.

Denzel Boston

I watched this kid take it to Michigan. Large WR with some hands and speed.

Why Watkins??

His mom was really mad he wasn’t getting more PT in the beginning of the season. She let the coaches know and that’s why you saw them try to give him some packages in practice a few weeks back. RC and JA too

How do you think we got CJ Daniels, the highest rated WR in the portal?

Hard to see Cam Coleman staying at Auburn the way that is unfolding. Not many WRs with the makeup/agility/speed that he has.
And he was a higher rated recruit than "Did you know he's only 17" Ryan Williams.

His size is a limiting factor as a WR

And he doesn’t have great hands. On passes anyway. Not saying he drops balls, but could come down with more where he’s targeted. However, small sample size.

You have to get him the ball in space, and they do that with jets, WR screens, a few handoffs, etc.

He’s fricking ELITE with the ball in his hands. We’ve got to get him more touches. I feel like we are leaving 40+ yards/game on the field not getting him more involved. Made very little sense when we weren’t able to run the ball before Durham emerged. But even he is not 100%.

I agree. I loved that he was getting at least one rush or jet per game earlier in the season. Until Durham is back to 100%, he and Johnson need a couple of designed touches like that to spread the load.

And we need to target him on at least 1-3 WR screens per game. I think he got one last week. There was another play that looked like it was going to him that was whistled dead for a false start, I think.

This is the recruiting board. Context is not welcome here.

Probably going to just have to have someone step up on the roster, it's unlikely we will find more talented guys in the portal than we have recruited the last couple of years

Yeah I imagine we grab a WR 1 or 2 type player in the portal.

Anderson/Zavion/TreyDez/Hilton/Parker will be here

___________

Tre Green might be WR1 next year. The freshman Billiot has a chance to be good and could take CJ Daniel's spot. Hilton coming back and actually playing would give us a solid group. I agree we will add somebody thru the portal, but we have some dudes.

Imagine you are a Head Coach at one the biggest programs in America making 10 mill a year and a 18 year old's mom is calling you bitching about playing time

It’s a gamble to count on a freshman to be WR1
1. Nobody is counting on a freshman.

2. LSU has had plenty of redshirt/sophomores with no WR play time, or first year guys becoming studs

3. If we had to count on one, I trust that we will look good there.

Boutte 45 receptions 735 yards and 6 TDs in 10 games, but didn't start to get volume until Marshall and Gilbert quit. He was basically a 1000 yard true freshman WR if this was a regular season (955 yards and 8 TDs if 13 games).

Justin Jefferson, who was a sophomore, but really was not a part of any game as a freshman, had 865 yards and 6 TDs in 13 games.

When Boutte went down LSU had three true freshman receivers on a terrible team, get a combined 99 catches, 1265 yards, and 9 TDs. Two of those WRs are NFL stars right now, and the other is playing himself into a top 4 round draft pick at TCU.

Let's go a lil further back with Beckham who was the #2 WR by a long shot, with a team who barely threw the ball (20 passes per game). He finished with 41 catches and 475 yards.

If you want to talk breakout candidates, look no further than Kylan Billiot. I am telling you right now that he is the next Louisiananimal. The guy in the form of Nabers and BTJ, and Chase and Jefferson, Landry, and Beckham, etc. He has the size, speed, and catching ability to be a star. LSU offered this kid when he dominated at their camps, just like they did Malik Nabers.

Trust me, Billiot is next up. It will be Daniels, Anderson, Parker, Green, and Billiot as your top 5.

Both Jefferson and chase, you started to see flashes their freshman seasons. Who is showing flashes this season?

No one. Parker had a good catch or two before he got hurt. But no one else has hardly even seen playing time.

The top 4 wide receivers are from the portal.
