Illogical or not it is a rule and we broke it. I said I don't agree with the rule or the punishment but facts are facts. There is a rule and we broke it. Very simple. Guy said what I posted was disingenuous and it wasn't. It was fact. Nothing more genuine than truth and facts.

Did some digging on this and talked to a couple of buddies in the industry that and this is the conclusion for the harshness of the penalties.

It isn't about phone calls or setting up Womack for enrollment. Its about Les making an in home visit in October which is outside the contact period. That is the major violation and the reason for the stiffness of the penalties. Honestly, if(can never be sure in such things without public confirmation from one side or the other) the penalties are for an illegal in home visit, we got off light. Could have been worse.

As Cam Newton would say... . We need some balls in the athletic department. Auburn and Bama have the equivalent of Cain Valasquez... we have Bruce Jenner.

Kid and his shady family conspired with a scared midget and a supposedly unbiased cheating organization filled with a bunch of Alabama alums and boosters to orchistrate another way to frick LSU over, and our Nutless AD is going to bend over and take like he always does, while Slive giggles. Kid will be processed by said midget and end up at Troy a year from now. Fair summary?

Am I understanding this right?

Any team can sign a kid to an early financial agreement, which gives them unlimited contact with said player.

If that player ends up deciding not to sign with said school, all of that unlimited contact then becomes illegal?

Thats why we are in trouble?

Yes. The dumbest recruiting rule ever.

So basically, as a University they should continue to lie to recruits because the recruits themselves could screw you over.

NCAA is fricking pathetic and has bred this culture.

Well, the timing of Womack's tweet of "Roll Tide" right after the sanctions were announced makes reasonable people think that he set LSU up.

or that he is just a huge d bag

anyone who thinks bama set this up needs their head examined. a team who has the #1 recruiting class ever year recently wouldn't waste their time on this for a 3 star recruit. blame the kid, not where he went.

Question

1) Can LSU appeal the severity of the punishment which seems way over the top for a first time offense and something LSU could not have possibly done with intention like other types of violations.
2) Do you go after the player and family for the money lost.
3) Is there any way to foul a grievance against another school for tampering or being involved in an a plan to intentionally cause this situation.

I've heard from several recruits and their families that these guys are borderline anti LSU.
Add another person to that list that tells you that as a former LSU recruit

Don't get mad at the kid and his family. They did what they were paid to do.

Clearly the home visit did not give LSU an advantage since Womack committed to Alabumble.
