LSU Recruiting...The one place that is completely ignored is Central Louisiana.

I read a lot about recruits on various websites ! I am curious since most of what I read is about the New Orleans and Baton rouge area. Lafayette and Lake Charles, then of course Monroe and Shreveport..Not to say , there aren't good athletes in these places. The one place that completely ignored is Central Louisiana..Thank God for Frank Wilson ! he found a gem in Alexandria who still runs under the radar .His name is JT Lindsey. I hear about Harlem Berry and he is good but JT Lindsey is right there with him. Alexandria has other athletes as good but never get looked at. I no Alexandria has traditionally not been a hotbed of LSU talent but I think it's time LSU and their scouts start checking out some of the young men in this area before they go to other places.

It is crazy how you hardly ever hear of many central Louisiana players that are good enough to play for an LSU or any p4 team in general.

As a CenLa native, here's my two cents...
Open enrollment has done wonders in bringing the talent together in CenLa. It will continue to feed ASH the football talent in CenLa, same as basketball at Peabody, as long as Bachman is there. Prior to open enrollment, the talent was spread out amongst all the schools in Rapides parish. Coaching/development has been lacking in CenLa for a long time, but the program that Bachman is building will produce some D-I talent. Their sophomore class is full of contributors on a state championship contending team, so I think you will see some D-I talent from that class. ASH also schedules tough. Obviously, their district is loaded with talent, but even outside district--they've played programs like STM, Destrehan, and Acadiana the past few years. That alone exposes college scouts to the talent in the program. In the past, CenLa teams just played other CenLa teams, until they get to the playoffs and get bounced in the first round.
I'm curious to see how long ASH can hang onto him. The school board seems to be investing in the program, with the recent artificial turf install and the investment into a new football ops facility. I don't see him leaving before the sophomore class graduates because they have the opportunity to go on a run for the next couple of years. However, his name is only getting hotter.

Jacobian Guillory is the last great player from Cenla and he went to Alexandria High. He will be returning to LSU next year

Is it ignored, though? What college or pro from there went unrecruited by LSU?

Some names for the old timers to emerge from CenLa that made it to LSU:
1. Craig Nall
2. Blake Miller
3. Chris Williams
Like the previous poster said, before open enrollment talent was dispersed across 5 schools so iron didn’t really sharpen iron.
Things are changing at ASH though.

Oklahoma RB Chris Brown and safety Nic Harris came from Alexandria. DJ Chark and Jacobian Guillory did as well.

Pretty accurate! I like this new age!

The central part of the state is a sparsely populated area. All you have to do is drive I-49 to witness the nothingness firsthand. By a numbers standpoint, fewer athletes will come from that part of the state.
However, there’s really no reason the Alexandria area hasn’t produced more talent. I’m glad to see ASH has finally built a competitive football program. It’s hard to believe they might be the best team in the state. The fact they won their district is a small miracle given their history, and the history of that stacked district.
Bachman comes from a big coaching family, and none of them have ventured very far from their roots. There is no reason he doesn’t stay at ASH for a long time.

Seeing Craig Nall at one point lsu had the best QB in Louisiana (nall) the best quarterback from 1994 ( booty) and the best quarterback out of Florida ( Davey) at one time.

But we did have Jalen Richard who played for the Raiders for some years, just retired this year. There's always been a few guys in the area that are good enough but didn't get the recognition.

I hope we'll be headed in the trajectory ASH is soon. Not just open enrollment, but the change of Bolton to an academic K-12 and re-route of most to Peabody will push us and maybe Tioga to 5A next cycle. Couple that with the coaching changes at Pineville and Tioga this off-season, we might start pulling some talent like ASH did from our side of town.

You mean the least populated area of the state?
Really makes you wonder.

Not football but Warren Morris is from there

Cenla is baseball and basketball country. Football has to compete with squirrel and deer seasons. I'm only partly kidding.

The talent isn’t there. The bayou region doesn’t compare to the River Parishes. That’s no disrespect. The River Parish region is a gold mine of talent. They still have good players and that’s where a very good coach named Tim Rebowe comes in. Keep them home at Nicholls St.
