I think guys targeted by nba teams is a pretty good bet, tho.
100%
NBA teams have robust scouting teams across the pond.

Very solid point, but we are looking at an actual G-Leaguer who plays real minutes and has produced as a pro for 7 years. 2 actual Euroleague guys who play real minutes in the second best basketball league in the world and their best teams would probably beat the tanking teams in the bottom of the NBA at the end of the year, and two high upside guys that play in the Spain ACB, they are more potential guys, well Niang can actually play and has produced. But it’s not like we are going after the 3rd tier league in Albania for a 7 footer because we don’t have a post player.

This is not accurate. The NCAA has won several cases regarding this.
Have they. Honestly asking
Yes. JUCOs are on the same clock as everyone else.

I really hate what recruiting has become...Euro pros? I mean I'm all for the benefit for LSU but let's stop calling it college basketball.
Dale Brown was negotiating with Gorbachev to get prime Arvydas Sabonis to come to LSU. It’s not like this is new.

What other schools are recruiting them? Niang has been well documented, but what about the others?

Great post. I’m hungry for updates and commits, but am patient and confident Wade has a plan and will get it done.
It’s wild that we’re recruiting 25 year olds who have been playing professional ball for 6+ years. Crazy times!

Yes, they have always been, but I cannot find one NCAA court case where the NCAA has prevailed regarding JUCO time; just the opposite.
This goes back to the Diego Pavia ruling and the blanket waiver they granted then to seniors who have exhausted their eligibility.
I think they have set themselves up for future lawsuits regarding whether the clock starts at the JUCO level, and will likely lose those as well under the current system.
What effect the new 5-for-5 rule will have depends on the wording. I would expect them to address most of the loopholes in the new rule, probably connecting highschool graduation to eligibility.

Yes. There was one specific one a couple months ago. I had the link in one of my posts, but I've posted way too much since then to find it now.
It's part of the push for 5-for-5. I'm hoping they codify the JUCO/NAIA stuff at the same time.
ETA: I found this site: NCAA Litigation Tracker But I can't remember the athlete's name.
ETAA: It was the Noah Blythe case I was thinking about, listed in the archived cases on the link I posted. But he never played JUCO, just NAIA and D2.

It would be dumb and short-sighted not to include it or tie eligibility to HS graduation. Maybe make an exception for full-time military service.

Walker - is between LSU, UCLA, BYU, and now Auburn took a look. Maryland was on him early but faded. BYU would probably be the team to beat if LSU doesn’t have him above the other euros. However Walker has a very young family and a baby girl. BYU I think spent more than anyone else or was Top-5 last year in NIL spending on men’s basketball. Now that was buying the number one pick and a roster around him, to get the 6th seed and be bounced. If a bunch of rich mormons want to buy something like it every year cool. But I don’t see Walker if it’s even similar money wanting to go play at BYU as opposed to LSU for the connections. You have Stansbury, Stoudemire, Ronald Dupree, and Tasmin Mitchell.
We aren’t battling anyone currently for Fernandez. It will be really his choice and it’s a tough one. He just made it to the Euroleague full time. If he leaves now, no guarantee he has a spot if he goes back to Europe. He won’t be an NBA guy, and at 25 he isn’t doing the G-Lague grind even if he balls out at LSU. He has two kids, and just made a permanent roster spot with ACB, which he would potentially give up a job he would keep for probably the next 8-10 years. So if he leaves it’s a risk.
Santo is LSU, Kentucky, and Villanova of all teams. Mark Pope the coach of Kentucky actually flew to Israel to meet with him so of course he wants him. But I actually think that Santo would choose LSU over Kentucky for like money. When the check has to be written I think Pope/Kentucky would get cold feet. Pope is on the hot seat and he knows it. You go to BBN boosters, and ask for double to get what they will see as a Jewish sharpshooter the way they are they will give it to him and even if it ends up alright they might use it against him to fire him. Villanova is interesting don’t know much about their NIL spend post Wright, but a big city in the Northeast may be appealing to Santo.
Bagayoko is LSU with a heavy heavy lead in relationship, money, and fit. Indiana is in the mix, but they will fade. He is probably the one I want to get the most. Highest upside, lowest cost, if he “busts out” as in only averages 6-7ppg, 3-4rpg for us, he could still be a first round NBA draft pick. Arkansas and Calipari will close on him like a freight train, Oregon is kinda in the mix but they are full I think. He is also the one you were alluding to with the overseas agents, because he is young, they would try and shop him first in Europe, one of the Greek power clubs would buy him in a heartbeat, that’s if his parent club doesn’t want to keep him to potentially sell high to an NBA team if he gets drafted.
Even if Graves doesn’t get drafted a Euroleague club would offer him a full ticket and contract so idk, he seems like today if he gets drafted at all or offered a two way he will just start that journey.

I guess should rephrase what I meant...an 18-19 Euro kid is one thing...college aged. A 25 year old pro? That's a bridge too far in my opinion. Maybe I'm a bit old school in that college athletics is still COLLEGE first - you know academics and all that?
Sorry, it's a get off my lawn moment but Pandora got taken out and probably can never be put back in its box.

Oh I get it sure. Not disagreeing, just even a 19 or 20 year old euro kid would have been a pro for 3-4 years. It’s not just Pandora’s box has been opened, but it’s open to everyone. The last 3 years we had in my opinion, of the Power 6 basketball schools the worst NIL/transfer portal approach. I really enjoy CMM as a basketball coach, but he was beyond bad at that aspect, just in over his head. His first year he did great, first class going into year one was a ferrari transfer portal class with decent guys that were either good value and/or low risk in terms of competing. He followed that up with a fantastic, talented, and really good value primarily HS class. And the next 3 classes, we not only over payed for two years of the worst team in the SEC, but it was so illogical and beyond belief what that staff was doing. It didn’t matter the amount of money they spent, it was as if bless him he thought i’m back at Murray State 7 years ago. All that to say if we are in the new world if it’s between paying a certain type of player that I won’t denegrate but can’t play in the SEC for $300k or like value. Just pay 2 or 3 times as much for a bonfide pro, a stud.

I am still a McManiac, love CMM, good coach, better man. 15 years ago before NIL and the full portal he probably is the coach at LSU or another SEC school for 10+ years. But most of the McManiacs are off doing stuff like trying to figure out where all the money that went to the CATS buses went to or walking their goldfish.
