I've followed Serna the last 2 years as my friend's son is a P @ Lutheran South Academy. He has a big frame 6' 2" 225 lbs and a top exit velocity of 105 mph as an 18 yr old. Omar committed to LSU back in 2022 yet kept his options open for the MLB draft. He always wanted to play for LSU and felt CJJ could develop him as a C and better prepare him when he's draft eligible in 3 yrs. His 2025 draft projection was in the 2nd rd. which has values from $1M ~ $2.2M. He's betting on himself like Dylan Crews did as 1st rd. slot values are likely to be in the $4M ~ $12M range once he declares in several years.

I do t know how I, as a parent, could tell my 18 y/o son to pass up $1,5M…

That clears $800k.
Put $100k away to help live while in minors.

That’s $700k plus interest… so say $800k after 5 years in minors, if it doesn’t work out.

That’s a house in cash and $300kish in the bank… pretty good set up there

Yes I know could triple that in a few years, but could also fizzle out and get a $100-300k bonus as well…

You may think differently if your kid had potential to make $150,000-$250,000 per year playing nCAA ball and then potentially tripling what he would’ve signed for out of high school 3 year later

No path is a bad path here.

True…

I guess depending on the NIL , it’s a different story.

If he’s getting $150k-$200l year NIL, then yes.. go to LSU
