Well if the below average transfer is a multi-year guy Jay can stick with him in hopes of improvement, or usher out the below average transfer if he lacks promise. Again what to do? ETA: In the 2026 version of these rankings Jake Brown was 68 (he finished at 81) and was drafted 65th. Logan Schmidt and Jensen Hirschkorn weren't ranked (Hirschkorn wasn't committed to us yet either). Malachi Washington was 83, Wessley Roberson 85, Steven Milam 98.
So a lot of movement can happen. But he have more guys on the list now than we did at the same time last year. On the roster and in the class.

Project, how likely do you think it is that the proposal that will stop the drafting of high school kids will actually pass?

I'm not Project but I see no chance of it passing. Realistically less than 5%.
MLBPA will not agree to it. My opinion is that is the right decision also. I think NIL will do enough to get good players to college while still allowing the top tier of HS players to go to the MLB if they choose to. I think that mix will be best over having every HS player have to go to college.

I know they discussed paying players their slot value. That would change the draft.

The players association has now publicly stated they will fight it.
There were rumblings that people thought they'd throw the amateurs under the bus to keep from having a salary cap, but it looks like they're going to fight for the HS guys and international guys, like they should.
So I don't think that aspect is going to pass. But some of the stuff from the proposals might leak in.
It was good to see that the owners, in their shitty proposal, at least said they have no plans to further contract the minor leagues.

Back on the BA 2027 rankings, we had two pitchers in the top 15 with Schmidt and Evans.
Texas and Mississippi State also had two pitchers in the top 15.
So three SEC teams have 6 of the top 15 draft prospects in their weekend rotation next year. And that's not college only or pitcher only. This is a comprehensive list.
