re: LSU Baseball 2026 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread

- Angel Laya premium LH hitter, great throwing arm, athletic OFer. Comes from a great HS
- excited about the talented INF transfers, should be a more well balanced attacked. Good athletes & hitters w/ OF transfer
-Familiar with Kurland from 23 natty series, has played a ton of games.
- Dawson Park great athlete, can play a lot of positions.
- asked about CF: Patrick & Davis are two burners. Patrick is the fastest guy he’s coached. They have Wachs playing CF in the cape & he’s done great.
- asked about potential draft losses: some guys decided to go to other schools for opportunities. Thinks there’s a legitimate chance 13 could get drafted, doesn’t mean they will sign. Expecting anywhere between 6-13 losses.
- asked about Weinstein & draft: says he liked Weinstein a lot. Left basically cause UCLA had a lot of turnover & opportunity to play as a DES. Hopefully we’ll see him in Omaha. Milam’s decision to comeback affected him.
- Pitching : the returners have to develop. Sounds confident with some of the HS pitching prospects. Loves the 3 transfer portal guys.
- re: Paz- it was a surprise, felt like we made a good investment in him by allowing him to pitch thru some issues. He felt like he needed a different situation. Kids have less of a connection to teams & hopes he finds what he is looking for.

I just wonder how comfortable he was at LSU. My time around him at coach's committee he seemed pretty quiet and kind of aloof. If he goes back closer to home in Texas that would make sense to me.

maybe Jay should stop trying to beat MLB and keep guys home like Grayden Harris at Southern Miss who made the Team USA roster
Also a local kid Sunstrom was part of USA tryouts as well

I was surprised to see Sawyer Pruitt announce his return to ULL so quickly after their season ended. Figured he’d test the transfer portal waters. He definitely looked the part at times. True freshman rising to front of starting rotation at a school like ULL drew a lot of attention early in year and he stood up to the task. Tall kid with over the top delivery and a more traditional shaped curveball. It’s my understanding Ole Miss, where he was committed out of high schools, essentially processed him late, which is why he ended up at ULL. Kind of proving them, along with other big name teams that didn’t offer him, wrong. I’m confident Jay would have been on him. He showed out against LSU. Maybe next cycle.

Give me a specific kid you want. It is way too much to dump in here.
Main takeaway: the scouts feel that some of the kids (Roberson, Tucker) we assumed would head to BR aren't asking for much money to sign which means they are more than likely headed to pro ball.
Summary of odds making it to LSU:
Santarelli - 50/50

I would think bringing in 3 OFs from the portal, Davis making it to campus, and still having Patrick on the roster make it less appealing for Roberson to come to school. I understand that we do have to replace Bino and Wachs after next season, but kids don't think that far ahead anymore.
