I'm wondering if CJ Weinstein is one that said he's not coming and will just end up going pro. He's got enough draft interest, but he would also be a draft eligible sophomore, so if he doesn't think there is a path to playing time as a freshman to start upping his stock for the 2028 draft it could just make sense for him to take an offer now and start his pro career.
ETA: This is wildly speculative but based on Jay not mentioning him with the three other infielders on Mik'd Up.

Will Yow, an incoming freshman headed to Virginia, has pulled his name from the draft. He was 138 in the BA500. He joins Milam and Kurland as guys who have gone through the formal process.
I'll be keeping up with guys that pull their names out because it can affect other players. Unlike douche bag Keith Law, I think it's a good thing if guys don't want to go pro yet to formally pull their names from the draft because it clears up the board for the teams and doesn't waste their time on draft day.

Yeah I was kinda thinking that. Ik someone that talks to him from time to time on twitter and he loves LSU but he told him tell Jay to go easy in the portal. So it very well could of been him

My thought it could be Weinstein belding and the juco guy that decommited already

Are we not expecting Guidry back? I think 16 are pretty clear. Yamin, Guidry, and Aase are the 3 I would be less certain. I'm assuming he's not counting Curiel, Brown, Sheerin, or Garcia.
I still think there's a chance on Brown though. Unlike almost every guy ever where we say they can't raise their stock, Brown actually could. With a monster year he could be a top 10-15 pick. Not sure where he'll get picked or offered at the moment.

You guys need to stop assuming their desire to come back is based on draft position. It’s purely about leverage and dollars.
If he comes back, it’s purely about his love for playing for LSU and winning another title.

They both have a solid build already. Hoping they can just find barrels a little better and get the balls in to the gaps. It will come. Also a wood bat league. Takes some adjustments there.
Yea, both guys are pretty physical already. Patrick’s the best size/speed combo on the team. It’s going to be adjustments at the plate to get power from them.

Was he the one bitching about Schmidt so much?

He was.
I know baseball media is a haven for complete douchebags with moral superiority complexes, but he's in his own league with that.

Whats the reason for even melting down about kids pulling their name from the draft? Wouldnt that been seen as a positive so teams dont have to waste their time in conversations with them anymore and clears up the board?
Or is he just such a big MLB homer he thinks spending any time in college is a waste?

It was the timing of it. Late in the process with many finding out the day before.
But as always, it involved some teams that are the darlings of MLB.
Some teams had flown him in for unprecedented interviews within their organization. Interesting stuff.
NIL had not really taken hold yet on the high school level, so I guess there was somewhat of a shock level that probably wouldn't happen today

He was on one of the radio shows a few weeks after the season and talked about how he wasn't getting any younger, had been here for 4 years. Just seemed to me he was ready to give pro ball a try.

quote:Yeah I was just going off the 17 number as a thought exercise.
Jay said about 17 so I wouldn't really take that as a hard number. In one of the list in this thread had Aase being someone who wasn't on the roster but I think he will stay on the roster being a LHP.

This is part of it. But he also said it's disrespectful to the scouts that spent time evaluating him.
Which is bullshite if you think about it for more than 2 seconds because the orgs want the history.

Makes me think that if he gets an opportunity, even as an UDFA, he's gone. If not, he's back.
Project - can he be a DSA? I don't know the rules on those guys.

I'm not sure. I don't think he can be named a DSA now, I think that had to be done like last summer and it carries on with the player through their career. But I don't think new DSAs can be named.

Ah ok. I guess he isn't really a COVID carry over guy.

He also said he would return if LSU had the right offer, after throwing up a 6.39 ERA. He threw 3.1 innings in the cape and gave up a HR and 3 ER.
His leadership would be great to have next year, but not much resources should go to securing a 5th year from him imo.

I'm still not 100% familiar with all the rules with that. To me if you had the opportunity to be assigned with a DSA then why not do it.
For Jay to say the roster will be 40-41 they have to have quite a few DSA guys on the roster. I was trying to figure out who would be that but its confusing to try to lock down.

Yea there would have to be 6 or 7. Kurland, Moore, and Yamin are the first that come to mind
ETA Plog may count as well
