He mentioned those two names during the interview. With the way he spoke about them made it seem to me like he expected them here.
I think he was referring to players in the portal that they may have had initial contact with.

A few notes:
- Briggs McKenzie called him after the 3rd round and said he was coming to school. Then he called him the next morning before the 4th round and said "sorry, the Braves are giving me $3MM and I'm signing"
- Said LSU is going to handle the draft a little differently this year. Jay only wants guys who are "going to play at LSU" and it almost sounded like he got burned last year by too many guys at the top of the draft.
- Snelling and Crawford's family both called him after the 2nd title and said while they're happy that they're in the big leagues, they somewhat regret not going to college.
- He met with Park after the Milam announcement and he's still locked in. Sounds like he'll play third based off of context clues.
- Mentioned "17 returning players" So I guess I have to follow this up with my best guess of the 17. 41 total players anticipated on the roster.
- Said "a few guys called and said they didn't want to come because they won't be able to play" and that honestly sounded like he was talking about HS guys.
- Referred to the returning "left handed pitching group" which leads me to believe all of Plog, Williams, and Lach are back. Maybe Garcia?
- As others have said, he mentioned multiple IF from the recruiting class but not Weistein.
- Ricken is going to make 2 more outings in the Cape and then come back to BR for offseason work.
- Sent Ruckert/Patrick to CA so they could get more work. Hitting 1-2 in the order every night.
- Serna was a team USA invite but the injury in the SECT made LSU hold him out and recover.

Quick math, 17 returning players, 6 portal players and 25 class is 48. Jay expects to 6 -8 HS would put us at 40 or 42

Project you mentioned 53 players. PP7 has 23 and it looks correct. 25 signing class and 6 portal adds equal 54.

Yes, it was 53 before adding Valasquez.
Jay said about 17 so I wouldn't really take that as a hard number. In one of the list in this thread had Aase being someone who wasn't on the roster but I think he will stay on the roster being a LHP. Could be something there coming off TJ and could be someone who can give you some good situational spot innings out the pen. I guess another thought process could be to see if he would agree to go JUCO for a year or 2 and get innings after the rehabbing but not sure he would agree to that. If that was the case he would likely have hit the portal.

Curious how they develop at the plate. A lot of raw potential with both.

Ruckert has a .500 OBP in the summer league him and Patrick are playing in right now. Both hitting over .300 in over 30 PA so far. I would like to see a little more pop from both of them. Only 1 XBH each so far in 24-26 ABs for each of them.

They have a low of untapped power. Once they get back to BR to get in the weight room a little bit I bet we see the power come in the fall and spring. Just my two cents.

They both have a solid build already. Hoping they can just find barrels a little better and get the balls in to the gaps. It will come. Also a wood bat league. Takes some adjustments there.

I also kind of got the indication from his interview that we may not be adding much more out the portal until we see how the draft shakes out.

Can confirm. The plan is for Park to play 3B. That's an amazing sales job considering he's draft-eligible after next year.

I don't disagree but they have room to fill out their lower half a little more to generate that power in their swing. Patrick just missed on about 3-4 balls in the later part of the season that should be HRs come next season.

The greatest part about having Park locked in coming here and playing at 3rd is, god forbid Milam get hurt, you still have an easy fix to that problem.

The 2025 infield was so fun to watch with Danny at 2nd and Bras at 3rd. LSU baseball is just so much more fun to watch when we are playing good defense. So pumped that Park, Milam, and Kurland have the potential to be as good or better than the 2025 crew
