Got to think Yeskie has done his homework on Velasquez

Nice. He's a competitor.

Now, let's pull a couple of LHPs and I'll feel even better.

He hit and pitched for USC this past season so I imagine it will be focusing him on just pitching moving forward

Watched him pitch twice, his changeup is his best pitch. Like having a couple of those guys on staff

Velasquez didn’t pitch against UNc but was warming up in the 9th in their heart breaking loss in chapel hill

Came to usc as a two-way player

Maybe with his two-way days behind him Jay feels like a leap forward as a pitcher is in store?

He would have been HS teammates with former commit and current minor leaguer Landon Hodge. So we’ve probably got a long scouting profile on him.

He had a pretty darn good freshmen season as a reliever. Had pretty good command until the very end

I think he’ll project as a bullpen piece

Jay has done pretty well on evaluating pitchers from the west coast schools since taking the lsu job.

I'd like to see us add 2 more LHP for the bullpen.

Didn’t USC also have a good LHP enter the portal?

I like taking transfers for more than 1 season. Had a promising freshman season and has pretty good command with a filthy changeup. Going to be the replacement for Cowan (throws harder though). He seems exactly like the type of guy Jay loves to use in the pen.
