With the Kumar Rocker Rule, you'd think upcoming SR players could still potentially raise or at least maintain their value if they stay a year.
The 125th (4th round) is 75% of the 95th pick slot (late 3rd), which is 75% of the 76th pick slot (early 3rd), with shorter and shorter intervals towards the top of the draft.
A 2nd-round pick at 56, improving to pick 44, would maintain its value, for example. (Not to mention the slot values increase year to year)
Although you need to attend the combine and submit medicals for it, and under CJJ, we've won the CWS 50% of the time so I'm unsure how LSU players can rely on an event the MLB schedules during Omaha.

A key incentive for players to participate in the combine and complete the medical exams is the guarantee that if drafted, they will receive at least 75 percent of their assigned draft slot bonus

You have to be invited to the combine, which is generally about 300 players, and submit to a physical to qualify for the 75% rule. They have a supplemental event for CWS participants. Chase Shores and Danny Dickinson are included this year. Kade Anderson declined.
I think the problem for some of these fringe guys is they are no lock to be in that top 300 numbers. Frey, Stanfield, and Cowan were all not invited to the combine in 2025. So they can't count on that 75% being in play. Of course you'd hope they could improve and get in the top 300 but it's not a guarantee.

Am I the only one who thinks if he’s a starter then Stanfield stays in CF?
Posted on 6/25/25 at 12:23 pm to BeesWax
I could see him staying in CF. I am just throwing out hypotheticals. Everything about Curiel coming in was he was the next great CF for us. I guess that's why I slot him there for next season.

the arrows slinging at LSU for $ spent in portal are likely from schools spending similar amount or more with no hardware to show for it
Tenn and Ark spent more then LSU on their 25 rosters
Aggies didn't add a ton because they brought back most of their roster so if anything they spent to keep players
Texas was late to the game with their hire since their coaching staff was in Omaha similar to what Jay has to deal with this cycle

he definitely could, but I think Curiel wants to show he can play CF and it’s more likely jay gives him that opportunity.

trust me LSU is never outbid...the players just decide to go elsewhere. The LSU $$$ has us in every bidding war.

Just watched the MLB network segment with Jay. Gotta think we get some news pretty soon as he is full speed ahead now. Sounded a little irritated that a couple of the kids didn’t have the sense to wait for us to win another natty before making a decision.

I picked up on that also.

Are you saying this definitively, as in you have inside information? Or are you just assuming that’s the case? Genuinely asking here.

Landon Mack’s sister posted vitello at their house yesterday on TikTok. Looks like she deleted it already but someone screenshotted it. LINK

If tweet fails to load, click here. Top 50 player for 2026 draft. We aren’t on him yet, but assume we will be at some point.
