I’ve heard him tell the story before. I’m very sure he’s talking about 2 stories, one of which is that he has a zoom tonight with a kid (who hasn’t made a decision), and another about a kid from 2023 who committed during the celebration. In fact I’ve heard talk that it might have been Aloy.

I avoid the rant at all costs. I’d do it if others wanted it done or if this isn’t the right place for speculating on 2026. But literally this it the only thread I check on TD. The rant always devolves into name calling and squabbling.

I totally get that, and this is fine for a 2026 speculation. For sure don't need you running multiple hot boards on multiple threads lol.

Depending on what we do in the portal I could see Reaves leaving (we are on a number of MIF)

Same, and I think he'll be successful wherever he is next year. He's got some real offensive potential.
quote:

Noot will have a decision to make but he may get drafted high enough. Would love to see him back.

He showed at times this year why he was ranked so high coming out of high school. I'd love him back, but I don't know that he comes back to throw out of the bullpen, which feels like the most likely outcome.
quote:

I think Yamin is back - I think it was likely agreed upon before year he would RS.

Would love for him to spell Bide at catcher once a weekend and in the midweeks. He had great numbers as a sophomore at Dayton.
quote:

I think and hope Guidry and Cowan are both back.

These would be massive. You get a Sunday Starter and a huge bullpen piece. Not sure if Jay sees Guidry as a closer next year, given that he favors the big arm there. Would love it if we were somehow able to always have Rizy/Guidry available in the backend. Need someone like Schmidt/Sheerin to step up (or get a transfer) and log starter innings in order for that to become a reality though.
quote:

The little used bullpen arms I think could transfer: Primeaux may want to be utilized more than just as a LOOGY. Benge, Ware and Fontenot lost trust and that’s hard to get back but all showed flashes.
Feel like Ware has the highest upside here by far. He was elite for 3 weeks, then fell apart.
quote:

Stanfield could come back. Larson hopefully comes back as 2026 version of Frey, but could also see him leaving like Kling and Kuch to get guaranteed playing time.

If Stanfield comes back, Larson is almost in the exact same spot as this year unfortunately. I think between the incoming guys and Pearson, it'll be tough for him to lock something down. Hope he stays, but he very well could end up at Kansas.

WJP23 is right. It was either Bailey or Beccera.

Back on the 2026 roster topic, what about Beck? Same boat as Reaves?

Pretty sure Beck would need a 5th year waiver, which I'm not sure he has cause for.

He didn’t play a whole lot, I think that could be cause, I really think he’s good enough to be our DH next year. He looked really good in the few pinch hit spots he got

Pretty sure he’s telling 2 different but similar stories. He did have someone who he thought was going to come for 2024 that ended up not coming.

But the story he told on Finebaum was about someone this past Saturday who he thought we had in the boat who was planning on coming for a visit this week who ended up saying never mind AFTER we beat Coastal in game one. By all accounts it was a pitcher because he has elaborated in different interviews about how that player could say no after seeing what Kade did under Yeske. Speculation was Bailey was set to visit this week. Putting it all together it seems likely he is referring to Bailey this year.

I remember LSU being in on Aloy and I was disappointed when they didn't get him.

I believe they really wanted Root last season as well.

Unfortunately, if you step foot on the baseball field (as opposed to football at 4 games, and the attempt for basketball at 10 games) your eligibility clock runs.

So I think he's out of luck as far as D1 ball goes.

Still, he had one of the biggest at bats of the season, and I will forever be grateful that I got to attend that game and see him almost take Nate Snead's dumb head off of his shoulders.

He said in the postgame presser that it was Nate Snead who went to Tennessee.

I think this is probably correct. I have no inside info but Yamin was dressed for every postseason game and participated in team activities much like Guidry and Paul were.
If you look at his instagram posts you’d think he was an every day player…he’s Super positive towards his teammates and all the guys interact with his posts and vice versa

He was the first guy out of the dugout at the end of every single game, still wearing shin guards. shite, he was the one who tackled Shores after the final out

To have a guy who acts like that, while also (seemingly) being talented, is huge. Definitely gotta welcome him back if he wants to compete as the no. 2 with Serna behind Arrambide. Jay has played multiple catchers every year he's been here. Outside of this post season run, and Travinski's insane hot streak at the end of '23, Jay rarely put a guy out there 3 games in a row.

Yep. Yamin is all in from what I gather.

Frey and Mayers are gone imo.

Yamin epitomizes why this team was so successful and able to get the big one. Not to discount the talent and coaching, but this team was way more connected than last year's team. They truly put the team above themselves. Last year's team was super talented, but they had too much friction with the "look at me" guys. This roster was littered with glue guys.

To wrap that into recruiting, I believe Jay will truly vet character/motivation to ensure that he gets the right fits in this program. If you don't want to be here and buy into the team concept, kick rocks. It doesn't matter how good you are. It's difficult in this day and age, with players looking for money and to be showcased at certain positions/roles. But, Jay is learning quickly.

It seemed every time one of the guys was at the postgame presser, they always said something like "I just wanted to get the big hit for the boys", "Wanted to keep them at 0 for the boys", etc.

It's kinda of weird Yamin is not playing summer ball yet. This isn't to rag on him, but he could not hit in both offseason sessions last year, which i why i assume he RS'ed.
