They're hoarding picks. They have what 14 picks inside the top 10 rounds? 7 of them being inside the top 100 I think.
They have an unreal amount to spend too, because of the picks they've hoarded.
They're going to take someone like Luis Hernandez in round 6 and then be able to give 5 guys from round 11 on a million.

Usually we just concentrate on the top 10 rounds, but with Baltimore it doesn't matter where they get picked in the draft. Just hope not to see any LSU recruits called when Baltimore is picking.

Baseball America dropped their final top 500 draft prospects today if anyone has access.

Good story on Taylor, really long though.
Anyhow, for those that don't want to read:
- learned from Wes Johnson and others at Georgia but his growth was stunted by lack of use
- dominating in summer ball
- played for very good HS program and shined
- wants opportunity to show what he has (presumably a rotation spot)
- throws in mid to high 90s with movement and command of multiple pitches
- best friend is a current Ole Miss commit
Really, really would like to see LSU land this guy.

Great article. Really want this kid.

I bet once the draft is over and Jay sees we won’t get shores back. We’ll land him

I think Shores has found his calling as a setup man/closer. I feel strongly Shores is not coming back. I'm confident Jay is not factoring him into next season's rotation plans.

Definitely seems like losing 7 signees (4 hitters, 3 pitchers) is the break event point.

Agree with the over under at 7.
Right now it feels like these 8 guys are favored (some much heavier than others) to sign. You'd hope to get 1.
Ebel
McKenzie
Fauske
Young
Sime
Moss
Hodge
Hamilton
With these 9 guys favored/some guaranteed to be at LSU:
Patrick
Paz
Ricken
Serna
Ruckert
Clauss
Braun
Theophilus
Aase

I respect your baseball post because you know your shite. People don't understand that if Frey comes back he is costing his self adleast $250k if not more. Even if he comes back and has one of the best gloves in LSU history its still gonna cost him alot money. I hate the way mlb teams do seniors in college. I really wish each draft slot was the same no matter your classifaction. I believe it would impprove the college game.

I think there should be a minimum of 50% below and maximum of 50% above slot value for each one to sign. It would protect the players better and probably make negotiating a bit clearer for all sides.

You need to just get your slot-- no higher, no lower. I'm not sure why that is so difficult...

They could just not sign and start a 9-5… most seniors who sign for nothing are guys that don’t have any options.

One thing about that - if you get invited to the mlb combine, which is about 300 players, and submit to a physical, you get 75% minimum of slot value. So they can still completely jam seniors that aren’t in the combine but it seems like Frey with a good year would be able to get at least 75% of slot value.
Now I’m not sure if they intentionally don’t invite seniors so they can screw them but Frey with a good year would deserve a combine invite for sure.
Also, the combine does take place during the CWS, but there is a supplemental event.

I spoke with Chase before the season in January as part of an NIL deal. He's a good dude, but I think he's accomplished what he wants at LSU. I'd be hardpressed seeing him pass up a good offer. I'd put it at 5%.
