Curiel is great but I'm not as sold as most. He is a little skinny and I don't believe he has developed physically as much as people expected. The ceiling is very high for him, but I'm not 100% convinced we see it as a freshman.
He's a draft eligible sophomore too
Hopefully he’s not a repeat of Kling

What would you say is a realistic % chance of keeping Bear? Less than 25%?
It feels like he’s such a crucial piece to next years team. What’s clear is we need to be much much better on offense next year. I do think Brown, Larson, Milam, and Frey all get better but does that compensate for losing guys like bear and white?
It seems like if Bear leaves we are just gonna have to bring in a bunch of bodies and hope it clicks for some of them.

Still braswell’s hitting numbers were abysmal too.
? Of our regular starters he was 3rd on the team in average at .311, 5th in slugging and 5th in OPS. He wasn't our best hitter obviously but he was far from abysmal if you ask me. For the back half of the year he was one of our best batters.

Braswell and Kilen have similar conference only numbers as sophomores. Except for walk rate. Braswell blows him out of the water there. You could also just look at the contact numbers and see where Braswell's gains would come from. He was hitting the ball on the ground over 50% of the time. Jay has him start putting the ball in the air more and his production skyrockets.
Kilen's k rate is lower than Braswell's was, but somewhat artificially. It's low in the same way Tommy White's is low. When you swing early, don't get the chance to strike out as much.
Braswell's line drive rate was also much higher the Kilen's. Kilen already hits the ball in the air a lot, but it was 48% fly balls.

He is probably talking about his numbers at SC.

If so, sure. Was thinking he meant this year.

Follow up question to the starting 8 but who are expected to be the main contributors this year at the plate
In Jay Johnson’s first 3 season he had 12 guys who hit homers each season
Will that number jump this season?

Yall chill. I was referring to Braswell’s numbers BEFORE he got to LSU
Carolina fans mocked us for taking him and jay made him a player. What I’m saying is jay could take the Louisville prospect to the next level.

We will see how he looks in the fall.
That’s fair. If the stats posted here are accurate, it’s a little concerning he hit .320 with 1 HR this year. I get he plays tough competition, but what would be reasonable to expect as a freshman in the SEC?

New name to monitor
1B Kade Lewis, Butler
Freshman: .372/.432/.604, 1.035 OPS, 10 HR, 18 BB, 35 K,
64 Analytics has him ranked at 190

Liberty's Todd Hudson who LSU showed at least some interest in commited to Miami

Another name to monitor
3B Matthew Halbach, UCSD (Junior)
Junior .408/.511/.662, 1.173 OPS, (19 games), 3 HR, 11, walks, 12K
Soph: .306/406/.500, .906 OPS (51 games), 5 HR, 27 walks, 38K
I'm assuming injury in junior year, but will have to research.
Edit: Per future starts series he's ranked around 200 "for now he looks like a day 3 lottery ticket with some interesting traits but ultimately lacking impact upside"
He did crush the cape last year and was a Cap All-star. Don't see anything about why he only played 19 games.

Not to be mean, but if Neal is ranked 10th in the portal, then it’s a weak year for the portal.

He's not even on Baseball America's top 100 for the 2025 draft.
Interesting. Moscona was saying he is MLB,com 17th rated prospect for 2025. Number one guy in the portal and penciled in starter at SS if LSU lands him.

What’s the latest with Jaden Noot?

I just wanted to add that I hope we add Jaden Agassi so his father can get hammered at the box and get wild with the baws

I'm still not sold on Kilen.
I prefer Diaz as a hitter. Kilen’s chase rate is absurd. High contact rate means shite when it’s weak contact on bad pitches
