I'm thinking between 2041-2043 is when he commits.
ETA: Is John Pearson related to Josh Pearson?

I know, I was kidding. I think I've seen some 2027 kids getting interest. They're 12/13 years old. Insane, but I'm starting to understand the projections the more baseball that I watch. It's still wildly imperfect, but I understand it a little better now.
there is quite a few 27 kids we are on. thats 8th grade.
only a couple 28 kids. but you have to understand there are kids going into 7th grade that are hitting 80 right now. Fastest 14u kids throw upper 80s/90.
when you got kids going into high school already throwing 90 with off speed, 2/4 seam then its easy to see why we are after them
same with hitters, running sub 7 in middle school with exit velocities in the mid 80s while playing with 16u teams on high school fields makes it pretty projectable.
Like i know LSU is on a couple 9th graders at barbe and atleast 1 8th grader( Jordin Griffin).
as far as 2027 kids, its more monitoring than anything to make sure they continue to progress.

The thing about baseball is the tools don't get worse with age... so you can see a young kid play the game and project that if the body keeps pace, he's gonna project up.
It's one reason why I was so high on Connor Simon - having watched him play since 9/10 yo ball. By the time he went to Sheets at 12 their damn MIF played like seasoned college players.

I'm not new here or to baseball. The practice of recruiting kids that young is still fairly new, and its accuracy is still not completely proven.

I don't feel like I could watch a kid that young and project what they could be. I've watched kids play and seen coordination and tools that jumped out, but mostly stuff anyone could see.
A while back, watching a game of kids going into 9th grade I think, I watched a kid hit an absolute bomb of the pitcher I knew. And then the same kid threw out a kid at home plate from right field. He was much more physical than everyone else on the field and had an absolute cannon. I was able to kind his name and kept up with his career.
He was a freshman pitcher at Oregon State this past year. He was throwing low to mid 90s by the time he graduated HS. Victor Quinn is his name. It's the only time I've ever felt like a scout.

I follow a few of the catholic league teams and there was an eighth grader starting at shortstop for holy cross. Was he starting because HC was just not good or is he legit?

Project patttuh , what do you know about the kid from parkway coming in?
I live in Benton which is in the same parish so I may go watch him play if anyone is close and wants to go?

Yes, he is the 3rd of the Pearson boys. Pretty good bloodline when it comes to hitting a baseball.

Really hope this kid makes it to campus
Hopefully Guidry could be successful as a 2 way guy this season and we can use that as an advantage to getting MJ to campus.

He's been considered near the top of the class in Louisiana for a while. I don't know a ton about him though.

the more i think about it the more i think he will be a pitcher from the start and he will hit more and more as the season goes on. you are right, if his roles are handled successfully it will be a great example to show players like Seo and beyond

A little bit of both. He's a good player, especially for an 8th grader, but HC was not very good. It'll be at least another year or 2 before they have the horses.

It's an early ranking for MJ Seo still but PG has him only at #121 overall which seems like a fairly safe bet to get here. Obviously things can change a lot between now and next year's draft still.
Was surprised to see him that low with him hitting 94 on the mound and playing a pretty good SS.
He seems like a pretty strong commit though. Seems to come from a pretty wealthy family so his number has gotta be very high plus he'll be 19 at draft time next year so he can be a 2 year D1 college guy turning 21 by 2025 draft. I think in his video from earlier this year he mentioned driving over for games and stuff so he clearly is very interested in coming here.
