Edwards and Travinski not being drafted is a little bit of a surprise to this point.
I am somewhat surprised that Thompson and Jobert have not been drafted by now either

Been off doing chores all day how do we look with HS guys committed to Tigers?

Every year I’m surprised these kids sign for about 250K before taxes to go through AAA instead of being kings in College
Posted on 7/10/23 at 5:10 pm to LSUBALLER
Only one drafted so far is Blake Mitchell.

Round 10 is finished. Unless I missed something, not a single commit was drafted today.
Admittedly, I’m not the most knowledgeable on the MLB, but the top HS guys will get drafted eventually whether that be 11th or 12th rounds where teams will find the money, or the last few rounds as fliers if something doesn’t work out for their early 3rd day picks.

The allure of playing in the pros. I don’t fault them for doing so, but unless it’s life changing money, I would much rather spend my time in college.

My brain is smooth so help me out here:
Dugas got drafted in the 6th round but he’s a senior with no leverage. Would he have been better off financially getting drafted in rounds 11-20 for the $150k?

Getting picked where he did means that he agreed to an amount at that spot. Likely a pretty low number allowing the Nats to recoup some pool.
Theoretically he could have been paid more had he been drafted 11-20, but practically he may never have been offered that.

Yes, but if he wasn’t drafted in rounds 1-10, I don’t see a world where a team uses a selection on a 5th year COVID senior in rounds 11-20 unless they’ve already agreed to a number sub the 11-20 round slot.
In last year’s draft, a 23 year old pitcher out of TCU drafted in the 7th round signed for $7,500. A 23 year old 2B from La Tech in the 8th signed for $2,500. A 23 year old SS from Ga State drafted in the 9th round signed for $1,000.
Meanwhile, not a single 11th round selection signed for less than 6 figures, 2 of them going for 7 figures. Only 3 signed for less than 6 figures through rounds 11-13.
These teams are purposely attempting to save money to use for other players later in the draft.

Didn’t realize the atm commits were rated that low lol. Kendall Rogers made a point to tweet that they were getting two HS studs to campus and I figured the kids were ranked a little higher than 79 and 146
Good old Kendall. Just gotta prop up his aggies
No mention of LSU who looks like they could get 3 kids all rated higher than that

Pretty stupid of Kendall to say any of that now when there’s so much to be determined.

Shouldn’t you add Kade Anderson to this list? Thanks for compiling this list, great work

Kade Anderson wasn’t a Top 250 player. This is taken from what thunderbird1100 posted:
quote:
LSU Commits in Top 250 with associated bonus amount
14. C Blake Mitchell - $4,663,100
42. LHP Cameron Johnson - $2,045,900
93. LHP Jake Brown - $725,300
105. SS Stephen Milam - $640,300
No Ashton Larson/Kade Anderson/Trenton Lape or MJ Seo in Top 250

I think he would've been had he not been injured, correct? And I'm surprised about Larson. Most expected him to be drafted by now.
Posted on 7/10/23 at 6:28 pm to TravisBRTiger
I think that’s just their available prospects to be drafted? Anderson isn’t listed because he pulled his name.
