College players have almost zero leverage. I think this often confuses people

There is almost never a player in the draft worth slot at 1/1.

I'm waiting for a team with the first pick to pick a borderline 2nd/3rd round guy 1/1 for $1M and then use their massive pool to pick guys in the $1M to $2M range with most of the rest of their picks. Seems like the numbers work better for you in that scenario than going all in on an expensive guy.

Reaching for a 2nd/3rd round guy would be to pass up too much talent at 1.1, but the Astros were able to get a top 5 and a top 20-25 player, and two future major leaguers, for the slot value of the 1.1 when they took Correa first.

Shitty system, but that's the way it is. I would be nice if there was a hard slot for each pick, but that's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Longest week of the year for a college baseball fan.

Has anyone outside of Sampson and David Folse confirmed this? I didn’t see anyone on Twitter mention it. Would think someone else knew something.

If I had to guess, the Brewers threw a number at him last night Noot really liked and agreed to in principle but nothing is signed yet which is why nothing is being "officially" reported anywhere yet.

Someone mentioned it here or in one of the roster threads on the Rant, but Will Safford publicly committed to Louisiana Tech today.

Landon Victorian of Barbe was named max preps sophomore of the year today. Kid is big time, hoping he ends up a tiger but with him being top 10 in the new PG looking doubtful he ever sees a college campus.

My base case as well at this point. The smoke is likely real, but deal not yet DONE.

Maybe CJJ can convince him to stay and be developed by coach Wes. Maybe a NIL deal depending on what the shitty Brewers offered, I just want this kid on the LSU team!

If Noot just bets on himself in 3 years he could conservatively make 5 million being developed by coach Wes and competing against the best in the SEC.

This is what i think as well. I think it's telling that they have only signed their 1st round pick. They are likely working all the rest out in principle and will sign all at once (or roughly)

Some kids just can’t see it. I totally can but some just want to go pro.

Can't see what?

If the Brewers met his number, then what is the big deal that he wants to go play pro ball for an organization known to develop pitching talent. Don't act like he completely doesn't want to come to school and is just signing for pennies to go pro. I highly doubt that is the case.

Or he could become riddled with injuries and go undrafted.

It's no doubt a tough decision that these kids have to make. I think anybody would understand his decision, whatever that may be.

I am not just talking about Noot. I am talking in general some kids no matter what they are offered 200 300 K just want to go pro. It’s their dream. IMO you get developed at a major university with better facilities than most lower level minor league teams. I think if you aren’t making life changing money it’s better to play college ball in most situations. On the other hand I don’t fault any 18-21 year old for making a decision that plays such an important role in their career.

We know Noot has a deal with Chandler bats and maybe even Marucci. Whether it's alot or has contingencies, we don't know. We also know that Milwaukee cut at least 1 big underslot deal and can cut alot of other underslot deals. Whether they have done that, we don't know. Finally, we know that Noot has top round talent, even more polished than Misiorwoski. He could see himself in the bigs, on a nice contract, pretty quickly. So, he could be betting on himself in that fashion.

We know some things and we don't know some other things.

I hope he comes here just because I'm selfish.
