Why not? If either is in the lineup next year against us, thats 2-3 strikeouts probably
I like both of them and really don’t mean to hate, but 2-3 combined Ks with both of them in a starting lineup feels like a realistic minimum. The swinging and missing was really frustrating to watch at times. Obviously Drew didn’t have a ton of plate opportunities, but I was still surprised how their pitch selection never seemed to improve much with JJ coaching them up. The power is undeniable, though. If either could convert a few of their Ks in to BBs, they could be very valuable. Especially Drew with his utility in the field.
I could still root for their success at Ole Miss, but it would be much more tentative.

Also someone on 247 posted that they have heard from 3 different sources that we are going after J Bob Thomas from Texas Tech for the open coaching position. I know Jay went after him last year too.
I would be more than pleased with that.

Keisel started following all of the Oklahoma State coaches in the last day or so. I don't think we're trying for him anymore.

Guess Holiday started dropping 6 figure NIL money on these guys too

I’m not sure that LSU ever was other than just kicking the tires around

I could see that. That's the kind of stuff I can't tell from the outside.

Thank you. I think I've said this before, but since I don't have Instagram, I appreciate you being our correspondent there.

With his catching background and high level recruiting prowess, J-Bob would be the ideal candidate to complete this staff imo.

Supposedly he didn't even budge at the chance last year so let's hope something changed.

J Bob can recruit. If he can bring good talent to Lubbock for Christ's sake I can imagine what he could do at LSU. And he coaches catchers!!! Make him say yes this time Jay!

Yeah, it would be interesting to know what his motivations are.
LSU should definitely be able to pay more money than TTU. Best I could find is it looks like he was getting paid around $250k 2 years ago. If he got a raise last year from LSU's pursuit, then maybe he's closer to $300k now. Fitz was making $300k this past season and I'm sure had additional incentives on top. They could probably go at J-Bob hard for around $350k with off the books pay incentives (camps, TAF, etc).
LSU gives him more exposure if his desire is to become a head coach somewhere. And yes, I understand TTU has been a top CBB program for several years now and gets a lot of exposure; however, even with all that success, he hasn't seem to move the needle on any job offers. While LSU just had a mediocre season by our standards and got 2 assistants hired to P5 jobs.
With what Jay is building, LSU may also give the better opportunity to get over the hump of getting a championship. TTU had a run of CWS appearances between 2014-2019; but couldn't bring it home. Haven't been back since then either or even really close as they got swept in supers last year and lost to Notre Dame in the Statesboro regional this year.
I know he is a TX guy through and through (born/raised there, school there, and coached there); but, it's not like LA is that big a difference. Baton Rouge is 1 hour further (by car) to his hometown than where he currently lives/works.
Seems to me that now is the time to make the jump.

This is what happens when you have major boom after major boom after major boom. Any extended downtime has us clinging for life from any major boom.

Per D1 Baseball’s portal page, Priester is going to Meridian. That’s where he was committed before flipping to us last summer
Thank you. That puts a bow on Priester. I lost interest when his summer numbers were less than impressive.
