Slade Bolden is the Louisiana Gatorade Player of Year, but LSU goes for a kid from Alabama that weighs 180lbs and was not recruited hard by Bama or Auburn?

LSjr was also the Gatorade Player of the year....... he got beat out by 2 freshmen and a walk on...... had a hell of a year in JUCO, has one SEC offer from Missouri at this point.......We have Giles that sat out this year that tore up the Big 12 last year. Bolden wouldn’t see the field at LSU for 3 years. Might not ever see the field at Bama. Not a huge loss, quit crying about it. 3 star slot receiver that most on this board would melt over if he currently held a spot on the roster.

I’m sorry but does this really matter? Lindsey Scott was GPOTY as was Devin Voohries. Neither made an impact during their time at LSU.

Surprised that was even brought up seeing as Pooka Williams was the most obvious choice in recent memory.

That wasn't a robbery but a criminal act to not give him the award regardless of his academic status. A joke. Bolden would be wise to never mention the award to a knowing fan or brag. Tuck it in the dresser and leave it to collect dust.

As far as the rankings go...maybe Dantrieze Scott, but I assume the coaches like him a lot more than the recruiting services do.

The only guy that would be a candidate would be Provens. We got Provens though, so hopefully he ends up being the better player. I'm sure they wanted Pooka over both of them, but his grades just weren't good enough.

We cannot add Bolden, he committed and signed with Alabama

LSU offered Bolden and Bama in my opinion recruited him hard to keep the pipeline flowing.

Alabama went after a kid from Louisiana that lsu didn't recruit hard.

guess it works both ways.

it's not a knock on Bolden...but he was not a "need" for this class. He's a slot WR, special teams guy. that's not to say he won't be a good player at Bama, but LSU needed OL and DL in the worst way. In a year that LSU couldn't find a Jenkins, Jones, Marshall and possibly Chase/Watkins/Keys, he may be a guy LSU covets more.

hate to see La players going to Bama, but this wasn't a loss on the recruiting trail to Bama aka Robinson, Collins, D Smith, etc.

This year’s Lindsey Scott.
Look for Slade to have a growth and talent spurt over the next twelve months.

Wut

Scott has an nfl profile. It’s hard to say Bolden does. I think he can be a nice complimentary piece on offense but Bama really doesn’t feature guys with his skill set. I’m sure they told him differently but I’m just going by what I see. My guess is he eventually focuses on baseball

Seems more like the West Monroe High School avoidance, as well as the Monroe area by LSU coaches for about 5 years now.

Which is dumb if true.
One top HS football programs i the state, not to mention the former all time greats that LSU has landed from there.

LSU is better when WM kids commit.

Take a look at Provens film. He is most explosive and has a larger upside than Bolden. I am thrillled that O left Slade off
The
Team.

Bolden is a great kid. He is a good player. Taking him because he's a great kid isn't good enough for LSU at this time. We need great players.

The last player to sign with LSU from West Monroe was Paul Turner in 2011? From 1995 to 2011 no high school sent LSU more players, so what is the issue? JJ27?

Couldn't possibly be the actual talent of players coming out West Monroe, could it? Since 2011, WM has had exactly ONE player ranked in the top 10 in the state. As we all know, he chose to go elsewhere.

Other than that, there have only been two other guys even ranked in the top 20. The slot receiver from this year's class was 17th and a linebacker in 2012 was 19th.

So, you think LSU should offer West Monroe guys, not based on their talent level, but simply because they're from WM?

And he of course had to transfer from another school.
