Looking at how the class has formed, would you want Slade Bolden?

Considering who we have and who is left?

This is not a “we didn’t want him anyway” thread. He’s obviously a good player.

But who would you cut to add Bolden?

I don’t know, but that’s the question. I think Orgeron realized something that has been costing LSU for the last five years. Bolden or Provens hardly matters. The winner will be the one whose line dominates.

Yeah, we’ve had better skill people than Bama, but they keep beating us. It remains to be seen how this class works out, but in three years if we’re no longer DBU, but we’re pushing Bama off the line, it will be a good thing.

this class has no need of Bolden. It has a need of Surtain and another wr.

I don't think I've ever wanted to see a kid graduate more than this kid. Move on. We didn't want him. I don't even see him staying at Bama more than 2 years.

where did this myth that Les didn't recruit OL or DL come from?

*ETA: and yeah Bama has had better lines than us, but they're loaded with 4 and 5 star players, not 3 stars

Isn’t he playing WR in college? If so, then hell no.

Doesn’t matter what stars they are loaded with, it’s the fact that they had depth. We now have depth.

2015 when we didn't recruit a single true defensive lineman. 2014 was a pretty weak class as well.

For offensive line recruiting was pretty good for the most part, but several guys from the 2015-2016 class just never panned out.

I'm really not down with the ridiculous notion that Miles was a poor recruiter, but he did have a propensity to leave holes in his classes that left us really thin at certain positions (most recently linebacker and defensive line). I seem to remember running back also being dangerously thin prior to the LF/DW & DG/NB classes.

this isn't a myth. you are being over simplistic. surely you remember some of his bad lines ('08) was awful. but in miles last few years, all he recruited were road graders to support his offensive philosophy on run, run, run. his scheme was so predictable that last year LSU faced a 3rd and 1 against Wisconsin. he ran Leonard fricking Fournette TWICE and didn't pick up that yard. that was a defining moment for me; and the last two bama games where he ran the same running plays the whole fricking game.

so it is no myth that Orgeron inherited a substandard OL, in spite of Miles having some good lines over his past. and he only inherited a decent DL because Orgeron himself had recruited the good ones. the one's Miles recruited with Chavis were substandard. if you disagree with that, we have nothing to talk about. EVERY fricking team we played ran right up the gut against us. our DL and LB's were just not good enough.

Giles >>> Bolden. Same reason Keys is on the outside looking in. Chase is the only WR that’s still a take.

This is coming to be accepted as fact around here, and I'm not at all sure it's true.

Slade Bolden is the Louisiana Gatorade Player of Year, but LSU goes for a kid from Alabama that weighs 180lbs and was not recruited hard by Bama or Auburn?

Seems more like the West Monroe High School avoidance, as well as the Monroe area by LSU coaches for about 5 years now.

This is the unequivocal answer.

Unless he plans on sitting the bench until his senior year.

If Cameron Sims couldn't get on the field there is no way in hell he will. Kid may play some slot on third downs possibly in certain situations.

He is setting himself up for ultimate disappointment as is his family guiding him.

Tech always takes others sloppy seconds so he will likely end up there like Paul Turner.
