Phillips has alot of range
He is great against the run and coverage
I think he probably comes out and queen stays
Phillips has 51 tackles and missed 1

Has the length, speed, smarts and instincts
Queen will ball next year cause he will have it all to himself and another year playing backer
Dude has missed 1 tackle all year, Phillips that is

Phillips plays in zone coverage just like queen

Neither of them really play man
Phillips has just as much range as queen
Just the way queen can come down hill and fill, Phillips can play zone and male plays with his length

Right with the Devin white soph comparison
Queen will get it more next year and ball out

Another year playing backer
Phillips has a year on him as a starter
That's alot of football

I love Phillips. He’s slow to get to the edge sometime tho

Can’t run downfield with TEs & RBs like Queen can

It’s all in the tape

This just reminds me of how deadly this front seven would be with Burch added to it. We’d have pass rushers at every position as well as the big athletic run-stoppers and then the rushers at LB as well as run stoppers while also having guys who can run sideline to sideline.

It’s not too late though. If LSU can get one in the transfer or JUCO this year or next year or sign a no doubt 5* DE in 21 then we’ll be just as dangerous in a couple of years. It’s not too late. I’d be looking for that perfect addition because we’re loaded on D. It’s looking like offense and defense is going to be loaded at the same time much more often under this staff.

Imagine Brooks, Webb, Ojulari, Roy, Guillory, Gaye, Ika, Shelvin, Little, Moore, Cherry, the rest of our DL guys who have developed as well as Thornton and Anthony.

This should be a very deep front seven next year. If most of the juniors stay then it’ll be a great mix of young talent with veteran players at every level. Should be a very good defense. I’d also like to see Aranda start using the blitz more. IMO it’s only risky if you give it away or if your playing a veteran QB who is accurate under pressure.

It can also cause most QBs to throw the ball when he doesn’t want to and where he shouldn’t. Even if you can get to a QB with 4 sending 5 or 6 every so often doesn’t hurt and can cause havoc.

Speaking of LB's does anyone know anything at all about whats going on with Tyler Taylor these days? Is he in jail, juco, or just waiting on a court date?

He started as a true freshman ahead of Phillips. Seems like a guy we should take if we can trust him.

If you think Phillips has close to the range as Queen you’re nuts

I agree with this. I’m not a great judge of linebackers, but I think Queen is better and has a better NFL outlook.

Is McCallum gone already? He was one I figured would get early playing time.

Well said. Signing day focused too much on the receivers when the LB haul was absolutely critical.

If we keep Queen , Phillips, Cushenberry, Deculus, Shadiq and IF Brennan is 80% of Burrow we can go back to the playoffs.

This will be a big spring for Anthony, Moore and Thornton. All will be seniors with not much to show for it (Thornton has shown some promise).

LSU has a good track record with senior first time starting LBs.
