Many Bama insiders think he's going there, but there's a few LSU guys that believe we're in the driver's seat. Who knows.

I get the feeling that it is truly still up in the air. Maybe the outcome of the Bama/LSU game will push him one way or another. Either way, I just hope LSU doesn;t lose another prospect as a result of wating until the end for him to sign with Bama. I'm so sick of that shite.

If we lose this guy, you really just have to laugh about it. At least that's my mentality. He has been Orgeron's top priority for what, 4 years now? I'm not even saying it'll necessarily be Orgeron's fault, either. It's more a testament to how firmly entrenched Saban is in that area.
The Sopshers, for their part, seem to be enjoying the process and playing the game to its fullest. Remember when Alabama wasn't even in Ishmael's top 12? I'm sure that sent a loud message that he wasn't getting enough "love" from them. Then miraculously a couple of months later, they are right back at the top of his list.
Anyway, I'm not getting my hopes up with this guy. Don't get me wrong, I'll be thrilled if we get him, but I'm certainly not expecting it at this point. And I'm not sure what more we could have done here.

I wish it would mean something for Sophser to realize he is a much more important recruit for LSU than he is for Bama.
It's not about that, It's about the money! These kids dont care about playing time. Bama's dishing out big time bucks, like no one else.... end of story

Alabama was never taking Rodney and the premise of your OP is that they won't even have room for Ish because they already have too many guys committed. Which is flawed thinking because Saban will have commitments hold off on signing if he thinks he can land Sopsher.
I never said they won't have room for Ish.
I said they don't have room for both Ish and Rodney.
I said if they sign 6 DL in December, and Ish Sopsher is not one of the 6 DL they have signed LOIs on in December, they won't have room for Ish in January.

I concede the fact that Ish and Rodney's visit to Bama was "unofficial". I saw it on 247.
I still don't think Rodney will Redshirt, Blueshirt, Greyshirt, or receive any kind of offer from Alabama.

But they won't sign 6 in December unless they are willing to take 7. That's the flaw in your logic. They're either going to have someone hold off if they think they have a shot at Sopsher, or they're going to be willing to sign 7 to fit Sopsher.
Look, I'm not trying to dog you here. It's obvious you put a lot of time and effort into the OP, which is appreciated. I just think you're initial premise was incorrect.

Another question to consider is this: Is Saban trying to recruit Sophser so that LSU won't get him?
I think that's been part of his overall recruiting tactics for years now. If he get's a Louisiana stud he not only get's the stud, but he keeps him from LSU.

Hi, Oregon fan that has read stuff on here before but first time posting.
Just had some information from our side of the country and it looks like there might be some overlap:
Faatui Tuitele DT 6-4 / 299 5 star #3 DT - HI
This kid is going to Washington, it looks like Alabama finished second.
Jaquaze Sorrells DT 6-1.5 / 292 4 star #7 DT - FL
I don't know what happened with this kid, we were the leader and then our coaching staff dropped him.
Siaki Ika DT 6-3 / 351 4 star #11 DT - UT
99% sure he's going to Alabama. We're still due for a visit, and it looks like he cancelled his trip to Washington. USC is also a player here, but I hear his family really likes Dodge Chargers.
As for Sopsher, while it's most likely y'all or Alabama, we're still recruiting him and our staff thinks we're getting him for an OV. Oregon would also take Rodney. We're almost out of schollies, saving one for Thibodeaux, a 4-star DE out of California, and a few other top of the board prospects - but if taking two Sopshers is what it takes they will do it.

An insider on the bama 247 forum is implying Sopsher's Dad is telling him Ish is bama bound...
Someone posted "Others seem to think LSU is in the driver's seat and that Sopsher didn't interact much on his Alabama visits"
And the insider responds:
"I'll take his dad's words over a beat writers opinion any day"

Sopsher coming to LSU is wishful thinking at best.

Gerald Willis' and Landon Collins' Mother wanted her sons at LSU...how did that work out?
Florida and Alabama...
If Ish and Rodney want to come to LSU...it doen't matter what Daddy Sopsher wants.....I've seen this movie before.

I’m sure it’s germans here but I just found oubAlabama’s assistant director of player personnel is Sam Pettito, who graduated from Amite High School.
Posted on 10/17/18 at 6:51 am to PawnMaster
Well yeah. He’s developing these players for UA. They prob wouldn’t even be recruits if not for him.

I wish people would focus more on some other Dlinemen in this class that LSU is recruiting. Offering Sopsher's brother was plenty enough to motivate him to commit to LSU. Pull both offers and offer to some other dlinemen. Lets talk about other dlinemen on LSU's radar and where LSU stands with them.

I’m pretty sure that was an act by their mother.

I called collin’s mom out when she posted a video on YouTube of her giving Landon a Bama cake earlier same day when he picked Bama while she was acting like a bitch on tv. She quickly took the video off of YouTube.

Ish and Rodney don't want to come to LSU. All they're worried about is $$$ and if you don't believe that you're just dumb. It's obvious what has taken place. The positive is we didn't have to wait until signing day to find out
