Oregon fan here - Blair Angulo is pretty good at knowing what the kids from the Rocky Mountain region are going to do. But he also really pumps up those Crystal Ball % percentages by putting in picks the day before the kid commits and it's obvious, flipping his picks, and by predicting that a kid with no offers better than Boise State will commit to them.
From the Oregon side, we have no idea if Ika goes to us or LSU. It's a toss-up. He probably doesn't even know yet. Oregon is making a big push for some Poly guys by getting some of our current guys to peer recruit, but I don't feel great about our chances for Ika. There are two types of Poly guys, the religious/family ones and the Trey Lealaimatafao types. Even if they are the religious types sometimes they have dads like Brandon Kaho's, where the kid signed with Washington, moved to Seattle, and once dad needed money he wound up in Tuscaloosa.
Ish Sopsher is expected on his official in Eugene this weekend. We have no chance, but maybe we can at least help him get Bama to upgrade him to a top of the line Charger.
Bama is 99% likely to have taken Kayvon Thibodeaux from us. We don't go head to head with Bama nearly as often as y'all, and I feel for LSU; it's like trying to kill a bear with a penknife. Even when you think you've got one, Tosh Lupoi and his coffee cups drop by.

My sleuthing, as an Oregon fan, since it's most likely one of our guys.
* Says he's top-40, but then amended it to top-50 in the 247's rankings.
* Says he's going to a school West of the Mississippi, but then clarifies it's not a great plains school. Meaning a West Coast school.
* There are only two top-50 guys currently committed to a West Coast school: Mykael Wright and Mase Funa to Oregon.
There is a third candidate, silently committed to Washington, Faatui Tuitele. A fourth likely candidate, Henry To'o'to is uncommitted.
Said that he has never visited Oregon, although says he's been on unofficial visits to both LA schools, Washington, Washington State. I think that's a red herring. The official visit date being in June may also be a red herring. I searched through the top-50 in both the composite and 247's own rankings and there is no one who hasn't visited Oregon that could fit the profile.
The real big giveaway to me is the rugby part and the Polynesian sounding username. Mase Funa was a big rugby guy.
He also mentions going to a big time power in high school football. All of Tuitele (St Louis), To'o'to (De La Salle) and Funa (Mater Dei) fit that narrative.
To my knowledge Funa has only taken one official visit.
Also mentions playing against a top-100 player currently at an SEC school. This could be anyone from a camp, but the only top-100 recruit from the West Coast who went to an SEC school in 2018 is Matt Corral. Corral went to Long Beach Poly, which played Funa's Mater Dei team last year.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's Mase Funa. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.
On a related note, the citizenship deal he was mentioning is a real thing. Two years ago elite DT Marlon Tuipulotu out of Oregon was flipped from Washington to USC at the last minute. His brother got a job at USC and was promised help in getting US citizenship.

re: Likelihood of Sopsher to Alabama or LSU? - By the numbers analysis

Hi, Oregon fan that has read stuff on here before but first time posting.
Just had some information from our side of the country and it looks like there might be some overlap:
Faatui Tuitele DT 6-4 / 299 5 star #3 DT - HI
This kid is going to Washington, it looks like Alabama finished second.
Jaquaze Sorrells DT 6-1.5 / 292 4 star #7 DT - FL
I don't know what happened with this kid, we were the leader and then our coaching staff dropped him.
Siaki Ika DT 6-3 / 351 4 star #11 DT - UT
99% sure he's going to Alabama. We're still due for a visit, and it looks like he cancelled his trip to Washington. USC is also a player here, but I hear his family really likes Dodge Chargers.
As for Sopsher, while it's most likely y'all or Alabama, we're still recruiting him and our staff thinks we're getting him for an OV. Oregon would also take Rodney. We're almost out of schollies, saving one for Thibodeaux, a 4-star DE out of California, and a few other top of the board prospects - but if taking two Sopshers is what it takes they will do it.
