nobody was hating on dooley when he was recruiting for LSU.

It's much more than his recruiting that has me thinking that way.

I know a thousand threads have been started about how USC is recruiting so many players, but I do have a question re: that.

I know they took a lot of JUCO EEs and were well below the 85 last season so all those guys can count back. Can they sign (and bring in) 25 guys on top of the EEs they got?

They're recruiting like they can and acting like they can. Find it hard to believe but I guess they just need to keep a roster of 75. But to think that they can have that many early enrollee's is beyond comprehension. It's not like USC is getting ND caliber students here. To find that many guys that are not only good enough to be highly recruited and enroll early is very Kiffin esque IMO.

I D K. You'd have to ask the 25+ players and 5th ranked recruiting class who have pledged to sign up why

Because they are the only one on the entire West coast that can recruit.

and why are you on the recruiting board?

Rebel, I know he was the recruiting coordinator and TE coach for the first few years at LSU. He was then moved to RB/ST coach after Haywood bolted. Do you know of any particular players who signed with LSU when Dooley was the primary recruiter? I've looked but have can't find anything.

USC has taken a few guys that they ordinarily wouldn't because of low numbers on the roster but don't be mistaken in regards to the academics at USC.They are top notch.Ours pale in comparison tho their's.The entire Pac 10 have good academic standings. They are an academic league. Also most of their kids are west coast kids. That's a bit easier than pulling kids from the other side of the country. They will eventually after the sanctions but they have a great advantage in Cali. Most kids grow up wanting to play for them. Why do you think kiffin jumped on that job. It's easy to recruit to USC.

Don't get confused by academic requirements for athletes and for everyone else. It's not the same and is the reason why I referenced ND, because they actually employ higher academic standards for their athletes.

They are definitely taking advantage of things while waiting fof the results of their appeal. This is consistent with how the NCAA this past season on most occasions coming up with every possible excuse to really avoid punishing most schools no more than a slap on the wrist.

Yeah I realize it's not an overnight process but I had a bit more hope that Emmert would do something sooner than allow this sort of thing to persist.

How the NCAA is still sitting on the Bruce Pearl stuff is beyond me.

You must not have looked at all. Dooley was the recruiting coordinator from 2000-2002. click this link lsusports.net, make sure you sort it by class, and try not to be impressed with the freshmen listed. and thats only the 2001 class. I'm not crediting Dooley with every player signing, however I will say that no one can say he cannot or could not recruit

You must not have read my post or have difficulty with reading comprehension. Never did I say Dooley could not recruit. I know when Dooley was the recruiting coordinator and know who we signed during that period. The information I cannot find is if he was a primary recruiter of a signed player, either during or after his stint as recruiting coordinator.

Recruiting coordinators aren't often the stronger primary recruiters on staff. RC's fill more of an organizational role that consists of duties such as identifying, evaluating, and assigning recruits to other coaches. Frank Wilson and Ed Orgeron are exceptions. They are RC's as well as primary recruiters. Furthermore, they are the best recruiters on their respective staffs.

No they are not. They have 9 EE's and are now telling people they are almost full so it's first come first severe.

Or maybe ask Malik Jackson, Jordan Campbell and Seantrel Henderson why they sought to transfer?

Of all the great eating establishments in town you could pick a better place than Past time. I'm sure Collins was impressed.
