He should get what someone is willing to pay him. This is on Florida

This will def make me want to spend my saturdays on the couch watching a bunch of entitled 18-22 year old millionaires who don't give a shite about the school they laced up for.

He realizes he won’t make the League, and wants that payout. Entitlement runs heavy in my generation. 13 million dollars for a CFB player, who has never played a down of CFB?

I mean….its dumb as frick, but if UF put it in writing that he would be given that money then he deserves it for fulfilling his end of the bargain. Being upset at the player for wanting what was promised is a bad take. The anger should be directed at shithead coaches making those types of promises and not being able follow through.

Or kids will stop chasing bait to the highest sketchy bidder. Sounds like he had a good thing at $9.5m in Miami, dropped them for a few million more, and ended up with $0. Cant say I feel sorry for him.

I’m curious about this. If another company offered you nearly double if you came to work for them, then once you got there said we actually are not able to pay you that amount. Who would be in the wrong?

Big time college programs having to shell out 8 figures for players that never even suited up for them would be a great way to end this scam.

This right here. It's how they'll self regulate in the future. The funny bit is that this current group of players are going to ruin it for everyone else and they aint even that good.

I'm not a lawyer, but have bought and sold a lot of companies over my career. But we'd need to see what they all signed/executed to know the legitimacy of the lawsuit

If he had guarantees in writing then the lawsuit would be for enforcement of that deal. It looks like he took some "promises" over a solid contract. Probably influenced by his father who was looking to score $1m out of the Florida deal.

BTW, the Miami booster released a statement saying that their deal didn't add up to $9.5m.

They are still acting like the athletes are the victims

They are the victims. Who do you think it is? The schools that are making millions? The networks that are making millions? The fans who get to watch for free?

The kids are providing the service, and in some cases, are not being paid what was promised. What if we were talking about plumbers, and homeowners were promising them a $500 bonus if they come today, then when they do, the homeowner screws them out of the money?

I don't like NIL either. I'm just saying that if its an option I think any individual should accept what someone is willing to give them for their services. The process obviously needs drastic changes.

but if UF put it in writing

Some of you keep using the complete wrong wording here including the OP.

UF, the school, never agreed to anything with him. This is down to what Napier was promising and certain boosters were promising to give him.

They are not suing the school, he is suing Napier and other specific boosters. They are NOT suing the University of Florida in any capacity because they entered into no such agreements or contracts with Rashada for NIL.

The equivalent of this for here would be Kelly promised some NIL, and Gordon (law firm guy) put a NIL contract in front of someone then re-neg'd on it in some capacity. The player wouldnt sue the school, they would sue the individuals they were negotiating the NIL with, in this case, Kelly and Gordon.

glad LSU got the last legit championship in CFB history before all this bullshite

"Legit" is definitely historically subject here. LSU took advantage of a rule that just became the norm just less than a decade earlier, and one that could be said was what opened Pandora's box to a big part of today's bullshite. Though I did/do agree with the the grad transfer, with no sit out year, rule, it definitely grew legs and has been taken advantage of negatively.

Yes I know....downvote away...

If Rashada never signed a contract, I don't see how he has any legal recourse.

Definitely shitty for a coach/program to promise a number and not deliver but without anything official, how do you prove that they owe him anything.

Lol You can't make this up. I'm glad Billy Napier didn't come here.

I would make them send me an official offer sheet prior to taking the job. Matter of fact I always do this and made my wife get an official offer sheet before taking her current job. When she asked for one they told her they were a small company and don't usually do things like that. I told her to tell them that she needed her salary in writing or she can't tale the job. They sent the offer sheet the next day.

You have to get it in writing or they can bait and switch you and you have no recourse.

Think it was the booster who didn’t deliver…
